In October 2021, I booked a one-way flight to Central America to start some sort of journey. I didn’t know if I was running from something or to something. The pandemic was taking a backseat to my personal life and its problems. I had no intention of writing an album, in fact, I hadn’t released an album in 14 years.

The Soundtrack features original music from the show produced and composed by Jeff Richmond [Mean Girls on Broadway, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt] and co-written with series creator Scardino and the writers of Girls5eva. Girls5eva star and Grammy® Award-winner, Tony® and Emmy® Award-nominated singer, songwriter, actress and author Sara Bareilles penned the song “4 Stars” for the series. In addition to contributions from Milk Carton Kids and Andrew Rannells, it also boasts six songs performed by the eponymous 90s-girl-group-on-the-rebound Girls5eva—comprised of castmates Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, and Busy Philipps.
At last, the collaboration we’ve all been waiting for: HEALTH have teamed up with Nine Inch Nails for the first time on their new single “ISN’T EVERYONE,” out today via Loma Vista Recordings. Dynamic, pulsating, and haunting, “ISN’T EVERYONE” was produced by HEALTH and Nine Inch Nails, and mixed by Atticus Ross. “It’s fucking Nine Inch Nails. That speaks for itself. You don’t need a clever quote to encapsulate it,” says HEALTH.

Sunny Jain (Red Baraat) Shares “I’ll Make It Up To You”
Today Sunny Jain is releasing a new music video and single “I’ll Make It Up To You,” which premiered yesterday in Brooklyn Vegan, featuring Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada on lead guitar, Melt Yourself Down’s Kushal Gaya on vocals, rhythm guitarist Pete Eide, trombonist Darius Christian, bassist Yuka Tadano, with Jain holding it down on the kit. The track comes from an upcoming collaborative album of 10 songs and a book of 22 “planet-based” recipes produced and directed by Jain titled Phoenix Rise, which combines art, music, photography, food, and a belief in global citizenship by supporting social justice movements. All Proceeds from the project will go to the Center For Constitutional Rights.
Tom Petty’s video for “Drivin’ Down to Georgia” premieres
The official video for Tom Petty’s “Drivin’ Down to Georgia,” a previously unreleased song from 1992, is premiering today. More nostalgic for the South than anything else, the performance restates Thomas Wolfe’s warning: “You can’t go home again.” The video was directed by Alison Tavel and features archival footage by Martyn Atkins and Heartbreaker Ron Blair.

FIGHT THE FEELING
“Fight The Feeling,” my first collaboration with songwriter Lydia Sutherland, was born out of one of those chord progressions that immediately moved me.
Lyrically, this song touches on the overthinking that can happen in a new relationship.
Floaty dreamy ambient electronica that seems to flow with no end and no beginning, an deep existential journey moving in an ever expanding cycle, falling down a rabbit hole walking down the same path again and again yet never passing the same place twice.
Rami is a strong believer in the power of music to transcend the listener through space and time. In this powerful yet minimal intuitive creation he combines electronic and live instruments to create his introversive vision, creating loops that grow and flow in an a-symmetrical manner creating patterns that echo inside, feeling familiar yet new, in constant motion. This process gave birth to Capsules, 6 musical pieces, whose names derive from the actual field recordings (a flock of doves sitting on his window) made during the creation process.
The Lazy Eyes share kaleidoscope new single “Nobody Taught Me”
A wandering, playful melody paired with their signature maturity-exceeding-their-years level of arrangements makes for a lovely ride on “Nobody Taught Me”. Frontman Harvey Geraghty wrote it remembering his summers growing up visiting his grandparents in England and the nostalgic, childlike first feeling of loss when the neighborhood kids all of a sudden moved away one year. Twinkly keys and carefully placed warbly guitars demonstrate new depths to their sound.
Alternative pop rising star Kami Kehoe makes a statement with debut single “Slow”
Multi-talented pop artist Kami Kehoe started her musical journey at age 3, developing an affinity for drums that propelled her through years of playing in bands with her siblings. After spending most of middle and high school mastering percussion and writing alternative rock inspired originals for her band, she decided to become a solo artist and songwriter. James Righton Shares Brand New Single “Release Party”
James’ past is well documented; coming to prominence as the frontman of the Mercury Prize-winning and genre inventing Klaxons, he helped create a mini-revolution in British music and spawned a youth subculture that blurred the lines between independent and pop music in ways that still reverberate today. When Klaxons disbanded six years ago, James began a period of multitasking extremis; creating original scores for theatre and film productions, recording keys for the Arctic Monkeys ‘Tranquility Base Hotel’ and releasing the James Ford produced Shock Machine LP. 2019 saw Righton sign to DEEWEE and release The Performer the following year, the first album under his own name
T. Hardy Morris is set to return with The Digital Age of Rome on June 25th via the New West Records imprint Normaltown Records. The 10-song set was produced by Adam Landry (Deer Tick, Rayland Baxter) and mixed by engineer Nate Nelson. It follows the Diamond Rugs and Dead Confederate member’s 2018 acclaimed Dude, The Obscure, which Pitchfork said “may be Morris’ best record; it’s certainly his most complex and compelling statement” and “it’s sharp focus is refreshing,” while AllMusic said, “Morris takes his ambitions skyward, infusing a joyous psychedelia into the mix…”
Irish Artist Cian Ducrot Soars on “Know Me Again” with Cate
“‘Cate and I wrote ‘Know Me Again’ over FaceTime, and then we kind of forgot about it for a long time. It wasn’t until my nearly five year relationship had ended that we came back to this song to finish it, and we realised how special it was.
