Acclaimed French psych-rock band La Femme debut new video, “Nouvelle Orléans”
The band describes the video saying “’Nouvelle Orléans’ is a shaggy and sweaty trip down Motown lane. The clip features some of Paris most elite dancers who battle it out la femme style to win the title … who will win? You need to watch to find out. The video was filmed at the Palace, an iconic Parisian club of the eighties. The hosts of the show are Cesar Domboy (Outlanders, The Walk) and Romain Brau, presenting this 69 hours-long dance contest, which will feature our first ever long length movie Paradigmes, set for release this fall.”
Directed by Kelsey Hart, her aim for this video was to reflect the unbridled hope and joy of “Little Things”. The single comes off their exultant, new album, Under the Spell of Joy, that’s out now on Suicide Squeeze Records.

MACHINIST! is an explosively unforgiving dynamic heavy band hailing from across the Southeastern United States, known for chaotic and cathartic live sets all over the continent for nearly the past decade. The band burst onto the scene in 2013 with back-to-back 7” EPs via Speedowax Records, then delivering their Pronegative debut album via Eulogy Recordings in 2015. Their latest full-length Closer To Death, was released in 2018 through Innerstrength Records. On this split, MACHINIST! offers the brand-new song “Bask In The White Light” – for which bassist Matt Zagorski directed/filmed a stunning official video – backed with a remastered version of “The Nail,” bringing new life to the classic crusher. The material was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Lee Dyess at Earthsound Studio (Against Me!, From First To Last, Evergreen Terrace). As a teenager, Proper Nouns singer/guitarist Spencer Compton was diagnosed with an unusual brain lesion – and briefly became a medical curiosity. Unsure how to treat the novel (but benign) condition, his doctors did what seemed obvious to them: they hustled him into unnecessary surgery. Its vaguely preventative goal failed; afterwards, he was left with epilepsy, memory loss and a second surgery. But, for Compton, it’s the situation’s odd inevitability that continues to haunt. “It was a weird kind of malpractice,” he says. “Like an ideological malpractice through medical health washing – surgeons saying, between the lines, ‘Sure, there’s no symptom to treat, but this is what we do.’ An institutional scam.”

Post-Punk also featured the video, praising “Kemp’s unbridled creativity, enthusiasm, and sense of humour is gleefully on full display with Donna Marijuana, and it is a sight to behold, no matter your state of mind.”
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that the State of Connecticut, through the State Department of Education, is partnering with TeachRock to launch an innovative, standards-aligned arts’ curriculum in schools statewide that empowers teachers to engage with students using the history of popular music and culture. Presented by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legend Steven Van Zandt’s Rock and Roll Forever Foundation, TeachRock works with participating school districts, at no cost, on the integration of classroom lesson plans that connect history, music, and culture in a way that is designed to resonate with students.
“Using popular music to grab students’ attention and pull them into their academic curriculum is a creative way to engage students and help them achieve success in their studies, and I thank TeachRock for developing this program and working with us to bring it to Connecticut schools,” Governor Lamont said.
