MAJOR MOMENT – “NO FEAR”

In the current climate of intolerance for opinions any different than your own, where presidential debates look more like an SNL skit, dictators divide & conquer, while we keep “unfollowing” and “cancelling” those we disagree with, it’s important to get our communication on point and remember that the power belongs to us! “The truth is born of arguments” says a famous Russian proverb, yet it seems our arguments only lead to aggression and sometimes just pure hate. All because we fail to understand there’s no one side to the truth. Regardless of which political party you support, or what you believe in, our support for each other is what truly matters.

THE CLOCKWORKS – ‘Enough Is Never Enough’ – Single out Now on Creation 23

The latest and last in a series for Alan McGee’s Creation 23 label sees the Galway four-piece take aim at the injustices and prejudices rife in our society with an assault of straight-up punk rock.

Complex and character driven in its narrative, the song follows the lives of separate but interconnected individuals in society: from a bigoted Café owner to beleagured kitchen porters, dreaming buskers to down-and-out beggars. Pulling together the fragments of our fractured society, “Enough Is Never Enough” creates a vivid collage that depicts its failings in one painstaking picture.

“Equal parts Midnite Vultures-era Beck and the 80’s pop supersonics of Twin Shadow, his latest single, “Nothing They Say”, is a vivid and necessary burst of musical support at a time when we need it the most. His voice floats high above us, an omnipresent narrator that reminds us to listen to that sound in our hearts and to disregard anything and anyone that tells us we can’t achieve all that we dream. The accompanying video is a stage for Ava LaShay, Nia Politan, Rosie Petals, and Audrey Elle, a group of drag performers whose middle fingers are in a constant stare of uprightness toward anyone who has the audacity to question their tenacity and relevance.” – Beats Per Minute

As a way to make our nightly calls more interesting, we started suggesting tasks for each other to do during the day that we would then share/talk about in the evening. She challenged me to write a song using this very strange single string instrument I had in my studio. This song was born in a single day from that challenge.”

Real Numbers share their “Brighter Then” video & announce new EP via FLOOD

Regarding the origin of the lead single, Eli stated: “It all started at our old rehearsal space, the basement of the now defunct DIY venue Coming Soon,” he shares. “It was late 2016 and we had finished recording Wordless Wonder and were having these very sporadic, unfocused practices, so I just started playing this riff over and over. The jam didn’t really go anywhere, but I knew this riff was special and deserved attention. Over the course of the following year I came up with an intro/outro and a vocal melody, culminating as a barely passable live version at a basement show in December 2017. After I finished the lyrics, Ian recorded a demo version of it in 2018 that sounded great, but also exposed some weak spots—like the key we’d been playing it in. We even made a couple changes to the bass and synth arrangements while recording this, the final version—and I tell ya, I think it’s perfect.”
