Deau Eyes Responds to the Greed and Gluttony of American Culture with “Haven’t You Had Quite Enough” Video
Deau Eyes, aka Richmond, VA-based artist Ali Thibodeau, has returned with an evocative new music video and single, “Haven’t You Had Quite Enough.” Arriving ahead of today’s pivotal election, “Haven’t You Had Quite Enough” is a response to the greed and gluttony currently steering American culture. Thibodeau’s haunting twang delivers the chorus: “Don’t you see that man is lying to ya? / Haven’t you had quite enough? / He’s in your mind now don’t you let him fool ya / Haven’t you had quite enough? / What’s distracting you on every screen? / Didn’t look down from the bluff / While we dance around his hands are clean / Haven’t you had quite enough?”

Originally inspired by the Wet’suwet’en conflicts in early 2020, the song’s feel leans towards pissed off. Musically and lyrically the song presents itself as simple and straight-forward; blitzed out British 60’s art punk. But we would prefer if it acted as a soundtrack; an accompaniment piece to boiling blood and keeping your local security guards employed.

R&B artist SAAKB releases his new single “Phases” and the official animated lyrical video
VOCAB is working with SAKKB, a New Jersey-based r&b artist, who recently released his new single and the accompanying animated lyrical video entitled “Phases.” The single is co-written by SAAKB and Mayila, a songwriter for Ty Dolla Sign, Chris Brown & Danileigh, and produced by Jbyss (worked alongside Grammy-award winner Eric Bellinger). “Phases” is about the inevitable ups and downs of a relationship. Emerging Leeds, UK outfit Yard Act have today shared their new track “Peanuts” – out via their own Zen F.C. label. “Peanuts” welcomes new guitarist Sam Shjipstone to the fold, whose work brings a more progressive slant to the sound of Yard Act: more angular and more melodic in equal measure. Shjipstone’s grandad Ronnie Ronalde (otherwise known as ‘The World’s Most Famous Whistler’) is sampled underneath the second half of “Peanuts” with his touching rendition of “In A Monastery Garden” from 1917. Continuing Yard Act’s use of outlandish characters in their lyricism, “Peanuts” sees the turn of an imaginary husband murdered via a peanut allergy by his wife; the steadfast guitar lines and jutting rhythms propelling frontman James Smith’s striking social observations.
