[new music] 2U4U return with ‘Oh My God!’

After a two-year hiatus, hip-hop trio 2U4U have returned with their new single “Oh My God!”, OUT NOW.

A refreshingly modern UK hip-hop interpretation with clear US influences, “Oh My God!” pays homage to elemental hip-hop whilst staying true to universal musicality. The song interpolates A Tribe Called Quest’s classic featuring Busta Rhymes whilst producing a fresh, hard-hitting and lyrically modern cut. Producer ATMA draws on his long-standing musical influences, blending sonically superb synths with vocal chops and crisp drums. His production perfectly complements MC My Rugema’s lyrical performance, which forgoes his usual autobiographical style for a more essential hip-hop flow, with clever wordplay, memorable one-liners and a rugged vocal intensity.

Hear Anna McClellan’s “Raisin”

“I have long romanticized the idea of jumping off a cliff, and categorized it as the perfect metaphor for letting go. If I could only take that leap of faith, I’d awaken. I’d been wanting to capture the idea in song for awhile and thought it would be a much longer/more epic endeavor. And I’m sure there is still much more to say about it. In Raisin though, upon jumping, the subject appears to float and become weightless. Never actually landing at all.” – Anna McClellan

Jono Dorr’s New Single “Deep End” Channels Raw Emotion

Jono Dorr allows listeners to look into a darker time in his life and encourages the need to receive help when struggling in “Deep End.” The somber vocals in the song were inspired by the grief felt at the end of a relationship. “It’s about feeling like you need help. Real help from real friends when you’ve gone to the edge of your mind,” says Dorr. He creates the song’s raw energy through various sounds and other production skills he has obtained through his previous practice. “I wanted the production to feel like you’re having a nightmare at sea,” Dorr explains. “Deep End” reveals his diversity in sound; it draws from the folk genre, which is not usually incorporated in his other music. The stripped-down production creates an eeriness and urgency that is bolstered by Dorr’s fervent, yet graceful vocals. This unadulterated approach to production and lyrical content makes his music stand out amongst his singer-songwriter contemporaries.
