Valentina Cy, the Los Angeles-bred singer-songwriter whose soulful pop sensibility won the hearts of tastemakers when it surfaced on her Unmanageable debut EP and breakout track “Powerful” last year, now makes her major label track + video debut with “Bad,” available at all platforms today via Island Records. “Bad,” a folksy pop track written by Valentina and [Mike Posner collaborator] blackbear, was produced by blackbear and Aaron Harmon. “Bad” will be followed by a new track + video from Valentina every month from now through the summer and fall.

Brooklyn-based indie rock band, The Next Great American Novelist (aka NGAN), share their new single, “Gravity’s Rainbow,” from their forthcoming, sophomore record, Careless Moon. Today, they also announce their forthcoming album’s release date for October 2, 2020. The Deli NYC calls their music “nerd rock-inflected” and compares NGAN to both Queen and Weezer. BTR Today says the band “blends dreamy, melodic indie rock with hints of sun-kissed pop in a way that feels somewhat more West Coast than Brooklyn in a super refreshing way.”

Toronto’s Soft Set team up with Ride’s Mark Gardener on ‘Never Die’
Toronto-based dreampop melodic indie rock duo Soft Set present their debut single ‘Never Die’, mixed in Oxford, UK by Ride frontman and celebrated producer Mark Gardener in his recently-launched world-class OX4 Sound Studio.

Los Angeles Punk Outfit Model Child Announces Debut Album ‘Dropout’ Releasing September 25
Model Child has announced the September 25th release of Dropout, the infectious ripper of a debut album from LA-based musician and songwriter Danny Parker. Known for writing songs for artists including Britney Spears and Jessie Ware, as well as working with acclaimed indie acts including Surfbort, Claud, Hatchie and Dave Sitek, Model Child is Parker’s guitar-driven indie rock project steeped in the alternative and grunge sound of ’90s counterculture with a slant. Dropout opens with the addictive and frenetic first track “Strawberry Bowl,” released today. Buzz Bands LA featured it this morning, calling it “a rapturously sticky guitar jam whose chorus delivers on its titular sweetness.”

Seattle-based emerging artist Dempsey Hope just released his new track “Time Flies” to mass excitement. The track, which took on a life of its own when Dempsey engaged his core fan base on TikTok to insert their own story into the lyrics, garnered over half a million US audio streams in its first week. Dempsey, who has been called “an unbelievable talent” by Lyrical Lemonade, just inked a deal with RCA Records and will be rolling out a slew of new music over the coming months.

In 1969, songwriter and recording artist Wilbert Harrison released “Let’s Work Together” amidst unprecedented social strife and racial tensions in America. The song was a clarion call to “every boy, girl, woman and man” to join the burgeoning social movements that promoted peace, justice and equality and a declaration that “Together we will stand, divided we’ll fall.” The following year, Southern California hippie blues band Canned Heat released their own version of the song, which became a major hit and amplified Harrison’s call to action and unity. Now, that same band has teamed up with famed actor and musical interpretationist William Shatner for a much-needed revival of the spirit of unity found in this song.

Then it just churned in my head after that for a few days and I wrote the two verses. Three months later it was the first song Neal Casal heard of this batch of new songs that would become ‘The Reservoir’ album.”
