INTRODUCING: Picture One (post-punk/new wave) announce new album
Self-written and self-produced by frontman Thomas Barnwell, the motifs on Picture One’s new album navigate transcendence, resolve, magic, and creativity, as well as exploring the sometimes stormy waters of love and loss. The music itself breaks through the often dark backdrop of the lyrical content, with a dance-y and self-aware 80’s synth-pop vibe accentuated by chilly post-punk soundscapes. Throughout the record, Barnwell fuses bright neon-soaked new wave accents and splashes each cosmic arch with a power-pop kick. Across The Depths of Seven Lakes is crisp, cinematic, and surprisingly accessible and poppy, given his previous sonic propensity of leaning into darker coldwave territory.

Inspired by everything from Hermann Hesse to Aphex Twin, their precocious approach—an open-mindedness towards genre, self-producing the music, and directing accompanying videos—marks them out as a thoroughly 21st century band.

Manchester-via-Italy’s Julia Bardo today shared the video for “Please Don’t Tell Me,” the second single from her forthcoming debut EP Phase, out March 6th via Wichita Recordings. “Please Don’t Tell Me”—an anthem of individuality sung over steady guitars and melodic temple blocks—and its accompanying clip debuted at Talkhouse this morning alongside an essay by Henry Carlyle Wade of The Orielles, who co-produced Phase with Bardo.

Grammy award-winning, legendary artist Carlos Santana will embark on a North American tour, expected to be the hottest ticket this summer. A continuation of 2019’s Supernatural Now tour, the Miraculous Supernatural 2020 Tour will stop at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, August 14th at 7:00pm.
Tickets are $199.50, $99.50 and $89.50 and go on sale Friday, February 28th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com. Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office beginning Saturday, February 29th at 10:00am, subject to availability.

Tomorrow, Black Books are releasing Cheer Up, their first new release since 2017’s Can’t Even, but the Austin-based five-piece offered a final sneak peek earlier today in the form of a new single and video for “Goodbye Cool.”
