Blowout “No Beer, No Dad” Redux Out Today on Lauren Records
Blowout is back after a few years hiatus. You can expect new music from them soon, but to kick things off, Lauren Records today is releasing a redux version of the band’s heralded 2016 “No Beer, No Dad” LP that was remixed and mastered by Jack Shirley.
Hawktail Releases Sophomore Album “Formations”
Known collectively as Hawktail, fiddler Brittany Haas, bassist Paul Kowert, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie are proud to share their much-anticipated sophomore album, Formations today. With the help of co-producer Chris “Critter” Eldridge, the band recorded the album in just four days at Nashville’s Southern Ground Studios. The album has received high praise from critics, including NPR Music who complimented the band’s “rustic” sound on All Songs Considered’s “New Music Friday” this morning. Produced by Cavetown’s Robin Skinner, the track captures the dizzying feeling of a young crush.
José James shared a playful new single, “You Know What It Do”
This single follows “Turn Me Up” (ft. Aloe Blacc) & “I Need Your Love” (ft. GRAMMY nominee Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah & Ledisi). Back with his beguiling mix of jazz, R&B, pop and soul, singer-songwriter/producer José James will release the sequel to his revered album No Beginning No End (James’ Blue Note debut championed by the likes of NPR, NY Times, Pitchfork, Billboard, etc) on March 6, 2020 – featuring the talents of Laura Mvula, Aloe Blacc, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Ledisi, Lizz Wright, Erik Truffaz, Hindi Zahra, Taali (his partner & co-owner of Rainbow Blonde Records) and more. “A lot of my upcoming album, as with my last single Stacy, is inspired by nostalgia – from the topics, to the sonics,” Quinn XCII says. “My newest single “Two 10s” is about asking your parents for $20 as a kid to go hang with friends, and feeling like you were rich and could do anything with it.
