Grade 2 Share “Tired Of It” + Announce US Tour Dates
UK punk band, Grade 2 have released the music video for “Tired Of It” off their forthcoming record Graveyard Island, out October 11 via Hellcat. The track “addresses the modern issue of the severe lack of privacy the people have today due to current technology, social media, targeted advertisements, etc. We live in an age where businesses care more about the money they can make from selling personal data than the privacy of their users and we’re fucking tired of it,” explains vocalist/guitarist Jack Chatfield. The video was filmed at Tim Armstrong’s Shiprec Studios just after wrapping the album. Check it out, here.
Sandy (NYC) announce debut release, Traces
Sandy is a Brooklyn-based trio comprised of Samantha Pathe (synths/vocals), Stephen Pathe (drum machines/samples), and Jeff Carter (synths/vocals). The trio arose from the devastation wrecked by Hurricane Sandy throughout the Jersey Shore in 2012. After the storm destroyed the house Jeff was living in and left him stranded, Stephen offered Jeff a room in his Manasquan, NJ house. Under the same roof, under unfortunate circumstances, the pair naturally started playing music together. They soon brought in Stephen’s sister Samantha to play and write music with them and Sandy – the band – was born

“Crisps & Crackers” immediately sinks into a nodding groove that never lets up, as Marler adds reverbed guitar shimmers, streaky distorted riffs, and a mouthwatering bass solo over a steady, plunky piano lick. His lethargic, stoned delivery grounds the psychedelic instrumentals to keep things from drifting too far of into the ether, and each respective part is leveled perfectly within the mix. It sounds positively gorgeous and Marler finds just the right balance between exercising his obvious virtuosity and doing justice to the song’s sturdy melodic structure. It’s psych-pop par excellence.
Brian Culbertson tells “Winter Stories” in a jazz trio
Inspiration strikes artists even when on holiday break. As pianist Brian Culbertson strolled the frigid streets of Chicago last winter, he felt compelled to write music. Feeling the cold air, seeing his breath and hearing the crunch of snow under his feet spurred the creation of “Winter Stories,” a contemplative collection of melodic musical “stories” recorded in a jazz trio setting. The first “story” that will preface the BCM Entertainment release dropping October 4 is “Morning Walk,” which went for playlist adds on Monday.

Philadelphia lyricist Bok Nero and producer Shizz Lo release the “Hood Anthem” music video. The booming collaboration exemplifies Nero’s signature #HoodEDM brand, with free-flowing rhymes spit rapidly over explosive bass drops. The official visual depicts Bok and Shizz on a mischief-filled heist throughout the streets of Philly. Channeling their inner Robin Hoods, the duo go from robbing a bodega to jacking a Mister Softee truck, no one is safe as the duo pillage the land in search of ice cream to dish out to the kids on the street.
