Bob Bradshaw brings his gritty & grainy style of music to the forefront with his latest release titled ‘Live in Boston’. This album was recorded in just one day at Q Division Studios in Massachusetts by Rafi Sofer while also mixed by Dave Westner and mastered by Adam Ayan. Even though this record only took a day to make, there are so many great memories Bob Bradshaw reflects on that can last a lifetime. ‘Live in Boston’ is a culmination of all the shows Bob has played over the years at bars & clubs in New York, San Francisco and Boston.
With heavy elements of rock & folk, ‘Live in Boston’ has a real Americana feel that plays out nicely throughout the 13-song set. Bob Bradshaw has a real knack for storytelling and for producing a catchy hook & melody. The musicians on this album include Bob Bradshaw on vocals, acoustic & electric guitar, Andrew Stern on electric guitar, Andy Santospago on electric & steel guitars, James Rohr on keyboards, John Sheeran on bass and Mike Connors on drums. You can sense the camaraderie between the members as ‘Live in Boston’ comes to life right before your ears!
The album kicks off with “Talkin About My Love For You” that has such an appealing sound right off the bat. There are some intriguing notes on “Talking About My Love For You” as Bob Bradshaw delivers a rock-solid performance from top to bottom. Brace yourself for an emotional touch and some heartfelt chords on “Material For The Blues”. Things are really starting to heat up with “Hot In The Kitchen” where you will want to fire up this single. Bob is your musical chef and he is cooking up an enticing song that has plenty of flavor on “Hot In The Kitchen”. Next, we head to “Albuquerque” where the mood is right with an enticing tone and pleasant melody in the air. The listener will be ready to dust off his or her speakers and kick up some rich dirt on “Albuquerque”. Bob Bradshaw & company truly nailed it on “The Art of Feeling Blue” by offering up interesting dynamics that worked brilliantly throughout the song. We are galloping along at the perfect pace and jumping into “High Horse” next where Bob Bradshaw is riding off into the sunset. “High Horse” provides a very raw sound, so saddle up and just enjoy the ride! Track seven, “Everybody’s Smalltime Now”, supplies a draggy rhythm that pulls you in, tempts your senses and sparks your curiosity. Bob tells a gripping story to go along with passionate vocals on “The Assumptions We Make”. If one would assume that “The Assumptions We Make” is a powerful set that truly hits you, that person would be right. The listener will detect a sweet sentiment on “Somebody Told Me A Lie” where the slowed-down tempo/flow catches your attention and keeps you engaged. You will be a sucker for “Sideways” with its shimmy-shakin’ riffs and rock-solid beat. Track 11, “Every Little Thing”, speaks volumes musically, lyrically & vocally as Bob Bradshaw gives it his all and straight from the heart. “High On Our Own Supply” is up next and Bob is driving this tune home with a sense of coolness and done with pure ease. Bob Bradshaw and his backing band go out on a high note with “Exotic Dancers Wanted”. The audience will slowly sway to this stylish number and no dancefloor or pole necessary. “Exotic Dancers Wanted” is melodically pleasing and one that fans will fall in love with.
‘Live In Boston’ is a real treat for music fans everywhere as Bob Bradshaw proves to be a stellar singer/songwriter. This is the 11th release for Bob going all the way back to 1995 and I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon! ‘Live In Boston’ will be released on March 28, 2025 just in time for Spring and you don’t want to miss it!
