Alan Chaubert with ‘Just The Three Of Us’

Alan Chaubert is putting on a jazz clinic on ‘Just The Three Of Us’ by showcasing a distinctive style and superb musicality.  Alan plays both the muted trumpet and piano at the same time on this new album making for one soul-stirring, listening experience.  Alan Chaubert covers some classic cuts by jazz notables such as Thelonious Monk, Charlie Haden and Bill Evans on ‘Just The Three Of Us’.  Alan combines the wonderful tones of piano and trumpet to create one invigorating sound that swings and satisfies audiences worldwide.

This new release features Alan Chaubert on trumpet and piano, Belden Bullock on bass, Jon Di Fiore on drums and Luis Quintero on percussion on songs “Don’t Know Why” and “Poinciana”.  The unique aspect about Alan’s style of playing is that he plays trumpet and piano simultaneously on all recordings with absolutely no overdub.  This makes for one refreshing take on jazz numbers as Alan Chaubert excites listeners everywhere with ‘Just The Three Of Us’.

We kick things off with “Well You Needn’t” by Thelonious Monk that has a fresh vibe overall and really POPS!  Alan delivers a stellar performance on “Well You Needn’t” that contains a nice ‘n’ steady beat that flows like a cool ‘n’ crisp stream.  Step into “Waltz For Ruth” by Charlie Haden next that moves along ever so lightly and will relax all of your senses.  It’s time to raise your glass and ease your mind on “Don’t Know Why” by Jesse Harris as a pleasing melody quenches your musical palette.  A tender approach sparks your interests and touches your soul on the following composition “Peace Piece” by Bill Evans.  “Poinciana”, originally done by Nat Simon with lyrics by Buddy Bernier, has a mellow & enjoyable feel that will bring pure joy to your ears.  “I Will Say Goodbye” by Michel Legrand is up next and Alan Chaubert provides a moving performance that is both subdued and incredibly poignant.  A smooth and calming sensation rushes over you on “For All We Know” with music originally done by J. Fred Coots and lyrics by Sam M. Lewis.  “For All We Know” is a top-shelf tune that supplies such delicate and precise instrumentation.  Track eight, “Misterioso” by Thelonious Monk, has a bit of mystique and wonder to it and is making a BIG splash with its sublime sound.  Alan Chaubert proves that he is dedicated toward his craft of producing high-quality recordings on “Turn Out the Stars” by Bill Evans.  Take in the spacious notes and “Turn Out the Stars”, so just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.  Alan and his backing band provide a classy finish with “I Will Say Goodbye-Take 2” by Bill Evans where sheer elegance is personified through golden music.

Chaubert was born in Switzerland and started playing trumpet at age 12 and at 17 became a professional musician while also studying piano.  Alan’s innovative and original approach to jazz music is heard loud & clear on the new release.  ‘Just The Three Of Us’ displays invigorating improvisations that are carefully-constructed by Alan Chaubert.  I feel this trumpet/piano connection with Alan playing both instruments simultaneously will attract to a wide range of people.  ‘Just The Three Of Us’ is set to be released on February 22, 2025 and Alan Chaubert is making waves and is a vital piece to the jazz world.
