“Weird” Cal Blankenship is a huge nerd from the country. He loves to fish (although describes himself as a terrible fisherman), loves trucks, loves farming, loves to workout outside and especially loves Jesus! He also loves astronomy, science fiction, does calculus for fun and someday aspires to own more Mathnasium franchises than anyone else on Earth. His favorite TV show of all time is Star Trek TNG and his favorite actor is Patrick Stewart. And there is no close second show or actor!
Mid-life crisis hit Cal like a truck. Despite feeling like his brain had been writing songs on its own for his whole life, Weird Cal never seriously wrote songs until his 40s after his son got diagnosed with autism (Cal is currently in the final stages of adult autism screening for himself and, per him, “the results look promising” [he wants to be diagnosed because autism is “one word that medically describes how weird I am” {Weird Cal also knows how to use parentheticals, brackets and braces correctly}]).
Nowadays, Weird Cal’s favorite thing to do is write songs and connect with country music fans. All joking aside, country music musicians and fans have humbled Cal and transformed him into the best version of himself, because country music fans are some of the best people in the world. He doesn’t just love Southern country music fans either. As a car dealership designer for New York and New England, Cal has met awesome country people all over the country. All over America and all over the world, good country folk are united by country music, their love of God and a genuine desire to spread warmth and hospitality to all they encounter.
Cal considers himself honored and privileged to be given the chance to entertain the best fans on Earth. He considers it his most solemn duty to make them laugh and give them some good music to listen to. Because they deserve it!!!
His newest release is “Lines in the Water,” his first non-comedic country song, which is a song about teaching his autistic son about how to fish. The video shows his son catching his first fish and basically becoming a fisherman on day one. Weird Cal, again, can’t fish for s t, so the fact that he was able to successfully get his son to catch a fish on day one is a major source of pride for him.
The song and video are meant to warm y’all’s hearts. Weird Cal Blankenship genuinely wants the world to feel the happiness and joy that come from a life of service to God, family, friends and the best fans on planet Earth, Country Music Fans!
