Rachel explained, “I wrote ‘Ribs’ when I had a chest infection and a crush on someone and it was annoying me. So I combined my two annoyances and described my liking of someone as a chest infection that was hurting my ribs because I actually had achy ribs. I then went to the pub and had some of the best ribs I’ve eaten from the Staplow Oak Inn and it was quite fun to make. So basically fancying someone is a sickness which you can either cure or it can make you worse – in my case I never recovered.”

INHERUS Release “Lie To The Angels” Lyric Video

Post-Metal/Heavy rock act INHERUS have just released a lyric video for their song “Lie To The Angels”. The song is from their album Beholden, which is out on May 26th, 2023 via Hypnotic Dirge Records.

The band comments: “‘Lie to the Angels’ is a song about betrayal in its basest form, how it affects identity. Its perception is a lifelong human struggle that we’ve amplified into larger than life lore. To “lie to the angels” means to betray not just in deed but in self. Facing that within and around ourselves is an experience no one likes to have, but it does build a kind of strength or second sight. One that drives you toward a world you inhabit somehow in your own light.”

We love doing songs like this because it’s a little different than what we normally do but is still true to our style.”

Jasmine Thakral: British-Indian musician’s horror-inspired indie pop single “Vampire” warns of energy vampires

Of the song, British-Indian Jasmine Thakral says:
“‘Vampire’ is a song about when you meet someone who’s an ‘energy vampire’ and drains you of all your energy. It’s an indie pop tune with horror movie lyrics. It’s set during my year abroad in Canada. Sonically I was inspired by indie pop songs by artists like BENEE, Remi Wolf and Still Woozy. I think it’s fun to have an upbeat production that contrasts with more downbeat lyrics. I had a great time collaborating on the song with Natti and Jack – who are both from a band I love called Fickle Friends.”

JONO MANSON keeps it “On the Downlow” with his new video (shot on location in Italy)

“The melancholy of isolation can be both sad and beautiful, all at the same time,” Manson says of the inspiration behind the song. “At the very start of the pandemic, I flew home from Italy, which was then the global epicenter, after my tour there was cut short, and found myself in quarantine for 14 days, cut off from my loved ones. This song was born during that time and of that experience, though I did not record it until quite some time later. As the chord changes and melody initially took shape, the song began to remind me a lot of some of the records that came out of the Southern California scene, back when I was in my early teens. So, when it came time to assemble the musicians to create an arrangement and cut this track, I made a conscious effort to maintain that vibe.”

He shows himself in a vulnerable position with hopes of finding relief from the cycle brought by unreciprocated feelings.
