Garrett Heath Releases Appalachian Roots Single Today

Garrett Heath announces the release of his Appalachian roots single, “The Losing End,” on January 21. The lead and self-titled track, “The Losing End,” encompasses the darker tales on the album due out April 22.

The single comes to the listener as a series of short vignettes, each focusing on a unique perspective of daily life in rural America. Each conveys a sense of what it feels like to be left behind by the modern American socio/economic/political complex. It takes on that all-too-common feeling in the rust belt that our best days are behind us, that our lives don’t really count anymore, that even our victories are somehow a loss on the national scale.

Chris Garneau Shares “Stranger” Single + Video via Cool Hunting | Single Out Now On All DSPS via Private Friend/The Orchard and Rough Trade Publishing

Shifting gears from his poignant, ethereal album The Kind (2021), Chris Garneau joins forces once again with producer Patrick Higgins (Zs, Nicolas Jaar) to make new sultry single “Stranger”: a more chill, soul-infused ballad. Originally written for the closing credits of a pilot teaser, the track was recorded in a day at Kingsize Soundlabs in Los Angeles; an apt horn arrangement written and performed by CJ Camerieri (Bon Iver, Paul Simon) was recorded later in New York. Garneau wrote the song inspired by a scene from a teleplay about a father/son relationship gone dark — an all too familiar territory for him, and yet the country-soul character of the song, with its meaty bass and almost saccharine brass section, offers a taste of something more approachable and fun.

Today, Capitol CMG’s breakout pop artist, Kevin Quinn, released a brand new music video for his recently-released single “It’s About Time.” The music video pays playful tribute to John Hughes’ “The Breakfast Club,” one of Quinn’s favorite films. Directed by acclaimed director, Roman White, (who has worked with artists such as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, and Maren Morris), the video is set against the hallowed halls of high school, and accompanied by a cast of characters reminiscent of the 1980s classic film. In his effort to honor the coming-of-age fan-favorite, the video for “It’s About Time” further highlights the song’s message of living life to the fullest, and making the most of the time we have.

Indie Rock Band BLUE J Share Video For New Single “Borderline”

Today, indie-alternative band Blue J share the official video for their new single, “Borderline,” from their debut record, A Sign Of Good Luck (out March 4, 2022). The track is another gem from the group known for their relaxed, hazy indie rock. Lead singer Justice explains, “The song is about the idea of inevitability, the way that a border is a man-made concept, but it’s defined by nature’s landforms. How life can be frustrating and so much you think you have control over has to exist in the framework of a limited amount of time and what naturally has to happen without your input.”

A raw and honest track, ‘Sleeping With You’ sees a candid frontman in Henry Camamile. With his head in America, he opens up in an acoustic led song that oozes emotion and slowly builds into an explosive track that makes its mark and leaves nothing to the imagination.

Henry explains; “This song is about dreaming of your American ex-girlfriend instead of the girl you’re with right now. It’s a warning to not waste your time on me as my heart is still with another, so I’ll only let you down. It’s about not letting yourself love anyone else, although you know you should.”
