Club d’Elf To Release Double Album ‘You Never Know’ On April 1
For Mike Rivard, head Elf and sole constant member over the collective’s 24 year run, the meaning of You Never Know runs deeper than just the chase of an alchemic group-mind. A few years back, while tracking spiritual insight in the deep-Amazon, Rivard began experiencing terrifying heart palpitations, breathing difficulties and paralyzing anxiety. Initially, he assumed the symptoms were part of his awakening process, but it quickly became clear something else was at work. Back home in Boston, Rivard was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, likely caused by a blood clot which developed during one of his long flights to Peru. A lifelong devotee of Eastern and holistic medicine, Rivard found himself mired in the sterility and sluggishness of the American healthcare system, struggling with PTSD and cloaked in a severe depression. His life skidded to a halt.

Take A Walk In The Woods With Abigail Lapell’s Intimate New Song “Pines”
Conveying a moment in time, a vision in nature, or a fleeting feeling in a way that others can understand and relate to their own lives is the ultimate recipe for writing timeless, well-loved songs. When Toronto indie-folk artist Abigail Lapell sat down at the piano to write her newly-released tune “Pines,” she checked off each and every one of those boxes. Inspired by a songwriting residency in the Rockies, “Pines” captures the intimacy of walking alone through the woods, spellbound, surrounded by frozen mountain vistas, accented by a contagious melody falling somewhere between the stylings of Neil Young and early Cat Power.

The Luka State Share New “Oxygen Thief” Single
The Luka State are poised for big things in 2022 as they look to build upon everything they achieved following the release of their debut album Fall In Fall Out last year. Not letting a pandemic hold them back they played 35 shows across Europe in just two months, including two laps of UK gigs supporting The Reytons, as they performed to a combined audience of 20,000 people and appeared on French TV’s Taratata. Even then they still found the time to write a body of supercharged new songs to channel their lockdown frustrations into a cathartic release of pent-up energy.
HELL MILITIA Announces New Album, Shares First Single
The band comments: “Ten years have passed since the release of ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ and the more things change, the more things stay the same. ‘Dust of Time’ is the first song to be presented and it is a diary of all events that took place in the years that have passed since. It is a summary of bitter days, unshakable religious faith, urban filth, decay, death worship and an extremely bitter aftertaste.”
C Duncan Announces New Album, Alluvium || New single “Heaven” Out Now on Bella Union / PIAS
“We’re at the end,” sings C Duncan, playfully, as his new album opens. Don’t be fooled: endings are the spur for new beginnings on the fourth album from the classically trained multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. After the haunting raptures of Architect (2015), the Twilight Zone-inspired reveries of The Midnight Sun (2016) and the richly melodic Health (2019), Alluvium is a sublime palate-refresher for Duncan (C for Christopher), brimming with revitalised fluency: a warming dispatch from the daylight zone, if you like.
Bambara (Wharf Cat) share “Birds” / Mini LP out Feb 25th
If the start of the breakthrough for Bambara was the radically reimagined sound of 2018’s Shadow On Everything (dubbed by NPR a “western gothic opus”), then the moment it truly arrived was on the cinematically riotous noir-punk of 2020’s Stray. In the UK, buoyed by the enthusiasm of 6Music DJ Steve Lamacq (who called the band, “one of his favourite discoveries of the year”), the band rose sharply, immediately selling out shows across the country. Meanwhile, back in their native US, KEXP’s John Richards echoed the same sentiment. Things were set. In fact, tickets had just gone on sale for their biggest show to date, a 1500 cap headliner at London’s Electric Ballroom.
In anticipation for their upcoming US tour dates, Nathan Gray & The Iron Roses have teamed up with Brooklyn Vegan to premiere the video for the track “Fired Up” from their latest album Rebel Songs (released December 17, 2021). Paired with the bands bright outfits and vibrant performance, The high-octane track is visualized in the spirited video to fan the flames in every listener.
