On his new video “Already Won,” Rod reveals that being a budding superstar is much harder than it looks. JJ Shurbet, who records as Scruffpuppie, has released their newest song “paint” on Saddest Factory Records. At just-turned 20, JJ has already released a string of performances and music videos for the last few years, garnering an army of ardent fans and millions of views. The latest track is an introspective piano ballad reflecting on her history of drug abuse. The visual for the song – directed by Mowgly Lee – follows a similar tone, spotlighting JJ for an emotional performance. Produced by frequent Phoebe Bridgers songwriting collaborator, Marshall Vore, the track is JJ’s second release on Saddest Factory Records, following last month’s “assignment song”.

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS- Surprise Releases ‘Joseph EP’
Christine and the Queens has surprise released a new EP, Joseph, featuring two new songs performed during her appearance at Global Citizen Live last weekend. The songs are cover versions of George Michael’s “Freedom” and “Comme l’oiseau” by Michel Fugain & Le Big Bazar. Alongside the covers, Christine also performed new arrangements of past hits “Tilted,” “People, I’ve been sad” and “Doesn’t matter” in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris for Global Citizen Live. The full performance is now available to watch on YouTube. All proceeds from the digital EP release will go directly to Global Citizen.

John Carpenter shares “Michael’s Legend”
John Carpenter and his musical foils Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies have just shared “Michael’s Legend,” the third and final advance release from their forthcoming original score for Halloween Kills, with both the film and the soundtrack album set for release October 15. In contrast with the bombastic violence and unsettling ominosity of previously released cues “Unkillable” and “Rampage,” “Michael’s Legend” is a haunting piano requiem, highlighting the tumultuous emotional undercurrents at play in both the film and its accompanying soundtrack.

The band evokes Tin Machine or early 90’s Lou Reed via matching steel Steinberger guitars and vintage Simmons drums and the performance concludes in such hysterics that viewers will instinctively want to stand near the back of the room.
