Today, composer, performer and producer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Academy Award-nominated producer, singer and composer Emile Mosseri have released their first joint single “Log In Your Fire” with the official video. “Log In Your Fire” is the first song from the duo’s new two cycle album, I Could Be Your Dog (Prequel), coming September 15th on Ghostly International.

Booker Stardum, the Los Angeles and New York-based musician and producer, today shared a Carl Stone remix of “Parking Lot”, a track off his newly released album CRATER. “Booker gave me carte blanche, and so I wanted to return with a track that was not blanche but featured instead many colors and flavors”, says Stone, “mixed in with his music, disassembled and reformulated, as in a post-post-modern entree.”

There’s a certain magic in the ability to gild tragedy with rhinestones, and Zelma Stone, the moniker of Bay Area native Chloe Zelma Studebaker, perfects that sleight of hand on The Best. Where 2020’s lauded Dreamland was a backward glance at fresh grief, Studebaker’s third EP is an homage to what’s ahead, and the EP’s marriage of vulnerability and bravado asserts Zelma Stone as a captivating voice in contemporary songwriting. “In the past, I often felt caught up in the sensation of constantly looking back, wondering where the time went and what could have been,” says Studebaker. “I spent a lot of this year learning to trust myself and embrace new chapters. The theme of moving forward and accepting change is very present throughout this record, and it was exciting exploring these ideas with a fuller sound and more dramatic dynamics.”

THEY HATE CHANGE SIGN TO JAGJAGUWAR + DROP VIDEO FOR NEW SONG
Tampa Bay production/rap/DIY duo They Hate Change has signed to the highly influential and renowned label Jagjaguwar. To celebrate they’ve dropped a new song and video for “Faux Leather” a homage to Manchester post-punk legends A Certain Ratio, a band held in high regard by the group. Directed by Xandra Robyn, the first part of the video directly references ACR’s Early album cover featuring They Hate Change in a constantly moving dynamic single cover that fans can screenshot creating many different versions of the single art. The second half points to They Hate Change’s DIY scene roots – specifically the Gulf Coast House show scene – part of their story that will continue to unfold as the group brings fans into their meticulously curated universe. On the song, the group notes “Faux Leather is a bridge to the future from a musical No Man’s Land. Un-ignorable music from the most-ignored origins. The direct result of leaning into confusion.”
TURNSTILE SHARE NEW SINGLE “FLY AGAIN”
Recorded with producer Mike Elizondo and co-produced by TURNSTILE vocalist Brendan Yates, GLOW ON follows TURNSTILE’s 2018 album TIME & SPACE, which saw the Baltimore band charting new ground for hardcore, expanding stylistic boundaries and celebrating new possibilities. With GLOW ON that utopic vision is fully realized; 15 tracks devoid of borders, boundaries, or entry obstacles, only abundant imagination, heart, and grooves plucked from all corners of the musical spectrum. GLOW ON includes the singles “BLACKOUT,” “HOLIDAY,” “MYSTERY,” “NO SURPRISE,” and “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION),” the latter four of which appear on TURNSTILE’s recent TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION EP and companion short film. GLOW ON also includes guest features from Blood Orange on “ALIEN LOVE CALL,” “LONELY DEZIRES,” with additional vocal contributions on “ENDLESS.”
‘Resign’ is PLANET’s first release of 2021, and opens with a dynamic wall of lush guitar chords and searing licks over a punchy, driving rhythm section. Compelling alt-pop vocal hooks push the track forward towards the heartfelt, anthemic release of its chorus.
BOOZEWA RELEASE “DEB” VIDEO
Boozewa (Featuring members of Backwoods Payback) have unleashed a video for their song “Deb”. The track is taken from their upcoming EP of the same name which will be released tomorrow. The EP was mastered by Tad Doyle of the legendary band TAD at Witch Ape Studio in Seattle Washington.
The band commented “By the end of 2020 we had written roughly 20 songs and with ‘Deb’ I think we really started to settle into what I guess you could say is our ‘sound.’ It’s off, it’s catchy, it’s heavy, it’s Boozewa. We recorded the tune on the four-track cassette machine again, and this time sent it off to Tad Doyle (Tad/Witch Ape Studio) for mastering. If there’s a light in the dark year that was 2020 it was definitely getting to work with someone I’ve been a giant fan of for the better part of the last 20 years, that being Tad!”
