Johnny commented on the track, “When I first heard Jenius’ beat for ‘Soon’ it took me to another world. It felt like I was floating in an ocean on another planet. I didn’t even wanna do too much to distract from the music. I love the simplicity of the song.”

Lo-Fi Master, Parker Longbough, Drops Surprise EP “246 Tapes Vol. 1”

Parker Longbough has always loved home recording. That spirit started over 15 years ago with the release of Commander Comatose, Longbough’s debut album that featured a handful of songs tracked on cassette tape. The 4 track tape machine has always represented independence, experimentation, and adventure for Longbough. Want to make that guitar solo weird? Flip the tape. Drum machines played on tiny pads with two fingers? Cool. 246 Tapes Vol.1 finds Longbough looking to harken back to releases like Ween’s The Pod, Beck’s One Foot in the Grave, and Guided By Voices’s Alien Laneswhile providing commentary on the absurdity and dissonance of life in 2020.

New Martha Wainwright

Martha Wainwright is beginning again. The beguiling songwriter’s fifth studio album, Love Will Be Reborn (out next month), follows recent years of loneliness and clarity in search of optimism and joy. Like many records, Love Will Be Reborn was made during a global pandemic. But the process, both freeing and infuriating, offered Wainwright a new way of creating. She let go a little more, giving way for producer Pierre Marchand to play around with vocals, emphasizing the beauty in its inherent scratchiness and edge.

Known for his attention grabbing production, gripping visuals and melodic tone, Angelo Mota figured out how to combine his skills—and everything that comes along with being a self taught artist—all on his own.

Nelson Sobral Releases New Single “In The Middle Of The Night”

Soulful new single, “In The Middle Of The Night,” hits the sweet spot between classic soul and country music. Inspired by the early days of dating his now-wife, when everything feels brand new and like you’re the only two people that exist, Sobral’s verses sound like something you would hear walking into some honky tonk bar on a Saturday night.

Miami Dream Pop Wunderkind SLAVVY Releases “How You Livin”

Miami-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Slavvy (aka Rostislav Vaynshtok) has returned with his euphonious new single and video “How You Livin”. It’s the second installment from his forthcoming, thematic EP entitled “Romantic”, due out in the fall. The single builds on brooding nihilism seen in the previous single/video “Lavender”, which channeled Slavvy’s hedonistic alter-ego, delving into themes of infidelity.

As always, she comes through with the kind of raw lyrical fire that’s too hot to touch. Over a high-energy throwback beat, she delivers one raunchy and braggadocious bar after another with Juicy J joining her on the catchy hook.

Spacette shares the colorful video for “Neptune” & announces new EP via MXDWN

Spacette’s Jordan Heimburger had this to say about the single/video:

“‘Neptune’ is a windows down kind of song about finding the joy in not fitting in. Not that it’s easy to be different, but like what other choice do you have? It’s a celebration of not letting the steamroller of normie energy we live around every day put out your light. Realizing the unique things about you aren’t flaws they’re what make you beautiful. We had a great time making this music and indulging a recent obsession with plants and a perennial affinity for layered imagery in the video.”

Capturing grief is an impossible task, but the airy soundscapes of “Sips of Oxygen” creates a space for that grief to exist. On July 30th, NYC-based indie dream pop trio ALMA share a song that is deeply personal, yet poignantly universal too. Vulnerable and poetic, “Sips of Oxygen” is about the moment before you lose someone, when the vibrancy of a life collapses into the act of breathing in and out. ALMA delivers a cinematic journey through their lyrics and sound design that relentlessly pulls you into each scene. First in the memory of a family fourth of July party (taken from real life) and then a hospital before the song’s final words ask, “how in the hell did it come down to sips of oxygen?”
