Benedict calls for unity in new single ‘Wake Up’
Haunting, passionate, and evocative of the alluring Massive Attack, legendary David Bowie and inimitable Prince, Wake Up is pervasive and truly moving. Produced by Dean Tuza (Stella Donnelly, The Rubens, Mossy) and mixed by legendary NYC-based producer Lee Groves (Madonna, Depeche Mode), soft synth pads create a perfect bed for Benedict’s poignant and nuanced vocal style, while colourful strings swell and propel the track forward, lingering and persuading the listener to pay attention. When confiding in close friend and singer songwriter Chrissie Derales over a zoom call, Wake Up was born in just ten minutes.
The genre-bending song melds together pop-punk hooks and emotional lyrics with upbeat electronics, and serves as a follow-up to recent KAYZO collaborations such as “Domination” with Papa Roach, “Never Let You Down” with Telle Smith, “Lifeline” with Point North and Black Tiger Sex Machine and “Poison” with Paris Shadows. KAYZO elaborates: “I’ve always been a supporter of developing artists, as that is how I got my break. So when Whales sent me over a few ideas, ‘REPLAY’ was the one I gravitated to immediately. It has this melody that formed into this rocktronic pop punk song perfect for summer. Shiah absolutely killed this vocal too. So excited to release this right as things are opening up and get back to playing live for fans!”
The world keeps getting weirder. Our devices connect and disconnect us more than ever. Our emotions turn into ones and zeroes on-screen. Our lives remain chronicled by cameras everywhere. We take one step forward and one step backward as a society daily in terms of technological, social, and interpersonal advancement. All of that in mind, Pretty Awkward doesn’t just serve as the moniker for the Seattle, WA alternative quartet formed by Austin Held [lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano], Nicholas Wiggins [bass, piano, backing vocals], Jake Jones [lead guitar, backing vocals], and Damien Ward [drums]; it could also be a two-word global “State of the Union” address.

Hard Rock Band – Fire Follows Release “Father O’ Father”
FIRE FOLLOWS – Denver, CO – “Father O’ Father” is the latest single from Fire Follows and showcases a completely different side of the band. A stripped-down “piano version”, it lends itself to Chris and Tim’s vocal intricacies that have refined over many years of working together. The track also features a beautiful string composition that helps bring a tremendously compelling dynamic range to an otherwise unplugged version. The track can be thought of as a prayer of desperation… a sort of cry-out in a moment of utter desperation. The band hopes that the lyrical message deeply resonates with their current fanbase and that the song as a whole brings in an entirely new audience. – Chris Watt Fire Follows
