Psychedelic pop duo Wyndow (Lavinia Blackwall & Laura J Martin) announce debut self-titled album
Following the success of their first two singles ‘Take My Picture’ and ‘Two Strong Legs’ Wyndow (Laura J Martin and Lavinia Blackwall) return with their eponymous debut album. The project was ignited by a love of Robert Wyatt and an off-hand idea of collaborating on a version of his song ‘Free Will and Testament’. In a time of weird interludes, the self-examination of the song’s lyrics opened the pathway to themes examined throughout the record, that of being and wanting and the battle between knowledge and knowing. Who am I and do I see myself the way others see me?
A six-track release, ‘Focus’ opens with the title track and Sam’s latest single, a typically high-energy dose of romance-drenched indie. Next up is the slick guitars and melodic breakdowns ‘Does It Matter?’ and ‘Silly’, an infectious indie-pop jam that’s taking 2021 by storm. ‘Bedroom Astronaut’ is a slick indie jam while March single ‘Weird Day’ is an enchanting love song that sees the Surrey-born artist serenade the special girl in his life, before things are closed out with sombre, heart-rendering ballad ‘My Kind Of Fix’. The release precedes Sam’s sold-out performance at The Grace in Islington on 31st July.

Varley share gorgeous new single ‘One Two Three’
One Two Three comes as a reflective and cathartic response to the inadequacy feelings today’s culture, and particularly social media, can trigger. Sharing a little more, the band explained: “We wrote ‘One Two Three’ about the unachievable beauty standard we are surrounded by in today’s society and how people’s lives online can seem so perfect and how it becomes harder not to compare yourself or your life to everything you see online. It talks about the feeling of being stuck in a big machine that’s trying to change us but also has the realization that if we apologize for being ourselves then we will be lost forever.”

ASBURY PARK’S JOE P SHARES “BABY TEETH” FT MOTHICA ON NEON GOLD RECORDS + ANNOUNCES DEBUT FALL EP
joe p. about “Baby Teeth”: “Baby Teeth is a bittersweet celebration of growing up. Responsibilities start to take up the space that was allotted for the people in your life and you find yourself in more and more situations where you have to decide who you really want to be a part of it. Or at least that’s what’s happening to me. The idea of Mothica being on this song didn’t hit me until after I fully finished recording it. I was listening back to what I had and realized how much better it would be with her voice mixed in. She brought an emotion and feeling to it that I never could have achieved on my own and the first time listening back to the track with her vocals on it, I couldn’t believe I was almost going to release it as just my vocal alone.”
B. Weaver – ‘Vanity’
