Today, Burbank-based Dana And The Wolf share “2 Lovers”, following up on April’s “It’s Too Late”, further exploring the controversial world of non-monogamous relationships. COOL HUNTING premiered the track, noting it as “another considered exploration of non-monogamous relationships” and musically praising how “from Hobson’s powerful, pliable vocals and soulfully sincere lyricism to the steady, supportive and percussive instrumental, the track rises into pensive anthemic artistry.”
SoCal-based alt-rock artist RATINOFF (full name: Jay Ratinoff) releases “Take Me Away” on July 16, the second single and follow-up to the song “Light Me Up” from his upcoming album LET IT OUT (due out September 17 through CEN/The Orchard). With “‘Take Me Away’ I wanted to write a fun dance song, The inspiration came from an experience I had when I met a girl one morning, and by that evening, we on our first date,” says Ratinoff.
AFROPUNK premiered the track today, stating: “Over a loping 6/8 beat and washed out guitars, the latest from Memphis’ Blvck Hippie is an existential crisis in song. Josh Shaw has an undeniable talent for translating emotional vulnerability into off-kilter indie rock hooks.”
Phoenix, AZ-based progressive metal band DemiAura releases its debut album, entitled The Ascendant, via Pavement Entertainment. The Ascendant features ten songs that were mixed and mastered by Brad Cox at Black Paw Studios in Lawrenceville, GA.
BAND OF BASTARDS RELEASE SLOW-BURNING SCORCHER “LET ME OUT”
Austin TX’s ragging hardcore collective BAND OF BASTARDS is back this week with another new song from their volatile debut album, DELETE. REPEAT., that’s out July 23rd from Redacted Records/SilverDoor Music. The slow-burning scorcher “Let Me Out” is a punk-n-roll anthem tinged with hardcore energy that’s made for the pit.
MASN RELEASES NEW TRACK “DON’T TALK”
MASN says, “One thing I’m hoping to emphasize with “Don’t Talk” is the relationship of vulnerability in my music and appearance. I’m letting myself be vulnerable, but I also feel like I have to hold back, like I’m sure many do on a regular basis. Having to hold your tongue and feel like you’re stuck behind a glass wall is painful. “Don’t Talk” shows what it’s like to not be able to vocalize your feelings because of how difficult it is being vulnerable.”

Today, the Nashville-based rock and soul singer-songwriter Maggie Rose shares “Are We There Yet,” the newest single from her upcoming album, Have A Seat, following the releases of the songs “Do It,” “What Are We Fighting For,” “For Your Consideration,” and “Saint.” Have A Seat is due out on August 20 via Starstruck Records. The album was recorded live at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL, and was produced by Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes).
Pop singer-songwriter, Jane Honor, has just released her new single “There Won’t Be Any Music,” a charming up-tempo pop-rock song that discusses drugs and addiction in a musician’s relationship. “In my lifetime, I have only dated musicians (songwriters, producers, band members, etc.),” says Jane Honor, “but whenever there was a bad day in the relationship, there would be no music.”
Defiant released their second EP The Rent In Hell Is Free today via Curtain Call Records. The EP features guest appearances by Ace Von Johnson (L.A. Guns/Faster Pussycat), Richard Reilly (The Bo Deadlys/The Victims) and Jim Taylor (Lenne).

“I was really angry when I wrote this song. I’m glad I’m not this angry anymore,” shares Eli on the new track. “It sucks to be angry, it’s painful. But I guess it’s unavoidable. Looking back, I make it seem so dramatic. Definitely playing quite the victim in this one, But let’s be honest, it was equally my fault. It’s all good. Thanks for listening.”

Me, I’m Counting brings analog synths to life on new song “Wave Age”
North Carolina electronic artist Me, I’m Counting is the solo project of Durham musician Nick Williams. Today, he announces his debut EP release MACAU due out August 20th, and shares the single “Wave Age.” Williams utilizes hardware samplers and a mesmerizing array of analog synths to craft a psychedelic blend of techno/electronica and krautrock. The accompanying music video features aerial footage and far-out visuals that meld their way into a live performance that Williams gave in a park during the pandemic with intense social distancing restrictions.
