PROVOKER (YEAR0001) ANNOUNCE DEBUT LP ‘BODY JUMPER’
After meeting Lopez at a horror screening, vocalist Christian Petty joined the band in 2018 for their breakout Dark Angel EP. Previously an R&B singer, the group’s music started taking on new shapes with Petty on vocals, finding the middle ground between catharsis and despondency; at the same time, they moved their center of operations from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. Stylistically, they arrived at a masterful blend of synth-forward minor key romanticism and resplendently moody R&B, animated by an electric sense of yearning. “All our songs have some sort of defeatist mentality or insecurity behind them,” said Petty. “Some deep sadness, escapism, and idealism.”

The track is released today on all digital platforms here and is accompanied by a video directed by notable indigenous music video director Amber Beaton, who comments:
“Chelsea Wolfe’s remix of the already gargantuan Divide and Dissolve track Far From Ideal was a dream to film a music video for. My main goal was to match the energy both artists brought but to also turn it into a love letter to indigenous women, particularly Māori women who are still feeling the effects of colonization and forced religion today. Our spirituality was made illegal and this video calls to summon back our own indigenous gods, many of whom were human like Hine Nui Te Po depicted in this film”. – Amber Beaton

Watch Kety Fusco create hypnotic warped harp soundscapes in her ‘Ma Gnossienne’ video
One year after the release of her debut album DAZED, the young Italian-Swiss harpist and composer Kety Fusco gives us a very personal version of the famous song “Gnossienne N.1” by Erik Satie. In this modern reinterpretation, which Kety has entitled “Ma Gnossienne”, the harp is used in an unconventional way to generate sounds that have nothing to do with its classical timbre. The entire sound system is set up with sounds of vinyl scratched on metal strings, objects struck on the soundboard of the pre-sampled classical harp, and analogue effects manipulated live.

Ida Mae Shares New Song “Learn to Love You Better”
Today, the Nashville-via-London duo Ida Mae shared their new song “Learn To Love You Better” from their upcoming sophomore album Click Click Domino. Ida Mae writes, “’Learn To Love You Better’ was written for a friend of ours who was wildly and selflessly in love with a partner struggling with mental health issues and wanting to do everything right. It was written on a late 1800s Mandolinetto which we later combined with 70s analogue drum machines- inspired by JJ Cale and John Martyn. We just wanted it to be a lighter breath of fresh air on the record.” Click Click Domino will be released on July 16th, through Thirty Tigers.
