Millionyoung – Free (Negative Gemini Remix)
“The original track ‘Free’ was written during a period where I was unable to see my family due to the pandemic, and I spent time looking at old pictures. My youth was full of a lot of dance music, and my parents were always particularly fond of stuff like Miami Bass. I wanted to create something that bridged that vibe with the tropical and laid back sound palette I gravitate towards. Lindsey and I met through playing shows, and I’ve been a huge fan of her music for years, so I was really excited when she agreed to do the remix. I was blown away by her take on the song, and how effortlessly she takes the track on an odyssey through 90s French House inspired chords and synth flourishes, in a way only she could.” – Mike Diaz, Millionyoung

New single: Seasurfer ‘Pretend’
Songstress Apolonia explains: “It’s one of my favourites. Humans ‘pretend’ all the time – sometimes unconsciously, sometimes not. Playing make-belief, behaving one way, yet feeling the opposite. In relationships, in politics for imaginary excitement or simply survival. There was something hypnotic about Dirk’s first instrumental version that caught me immediately, so the words shot straight out of me. I love when that happens: when the music, the lyrics and later the visuals become one. The video director JH Rochereuil also understood the atmosphere of the song perfectly.”

With an American alt-pop sound that’s unique from start to finish, this is the year of the Babe. The design of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seth Evans, he draws inspiration from his Great Lakes upbringing. Perhaps most notably so by deriving the name Paul Babe from the giant, superhuman lumberjack of Northwood’s lore who’s faithful companion was the Blue Ox, Babe.

Canadian crooner matt mcwaters appeared on the scene in late 2018, and quickly caught the ear of Ta-ku, which he then went on to form duo “Please Wait”.
matt returns in 2021 with a solo release in “Morning Dew”, which thematically addresses the pain of being alone and in a dark place, but having that one person who can pull you out of it.
Morning Dew was inspired largely by the sounds of 2000s R&B, listening to people like D’Angelo, Maxwell and Erykah Badu has always led me to write harmony in that style. It’s about recognising the sadness in loneliness and about cherishing the person you love.
The club-focused duo from Canada, made up of hit-making producer Felix Cartal and partner-in-crime Johnny Jover, first appeared on the label last year with their shuffle-ready “Like This” collab alongside No Thanks. Now, they are returning with “All Night,” which has been a secret ID in their sets for months on end, and was made purely for the climatic part of their performances.
