This would also result in an afternoon spent recording at Stone Gossard’s Studio Litho in Seattle, right across the street from where the band was playing a sold out, three night run at Nectar Lounge. Blackberry Smoke marks 20 years as a band with the release of “You Hear Georgia” out May 28, listen to the title track today

Of “You Hear Georgia,” lead singer Charlie Starr shares, “Lyrically, the song is about the South being misunderstood. It’s obviously a rough and tumble world, and there’s a lot of bad people. But there’s a lot of good people too. It started with the idea of how people might have a preconceived opinion of you because of a thick Southern accent, then expanded into the reality of how some people just seem to have such a hard time getting along, thanks to political or religious views, or simply what part of the country you come from.”

Will they survive the raid on John Wick’s home?

LAPÊCHE (Brooklyn) share “Finally Trying” single + video!

About the video & single, the band states: “We wanted to visually express ourselves in a light-hearted way, which is a deviation from our usual expressionism. Our music takes deep dives into psychological waters, but we balance that heaviness with a genuine joy for what we do. So we tried to make a video that shows a contrasting side of the band. We often joke about how we should start a criminal enterprise as an F-U to power. Robbing a bank has come up, tongue-in-cheek, more than once. Intentions to be joyful and do things you love, within that structure and even when things don’t ‘work out’, can be an act of defiance and even service. The lyrics, which at times run counter to the video narrative, touch on accepting and inspiring positive action. And to us, drive home the belief that the tendency we have to make things harder than they need to be, doesn’t tend to serve us or others.”

“Astral Humming” highlights the more psychedelic folk leanings of Athens, Georgia-based indie rock outfit Lo Talker. Written as “a reminder to never get comfortable with what I think I know,” says vocalist and songwriter Andrew Shepard, “Astral Humming” is a countrified indie folk song that refracts the merry prankster-like humor that threads through the various passages of Lo Talker’s captivating debut, A Comedy Of Errors. Produced by Kevin Ratterman of Jim James, My Morning Jacket, Strand Of Oaks fame, the song swirls with reverberant pedal steel and shimmering harmonies, culminating in a languid acoustic jam awash in shoegazing synthesizers.

DMV Native MoneyMarr Cooks Up In A New Video

Two months after the release of his album Millionaire Mindset, Southeast DC’s rising lyricist MoneyMarr returns to the scene with a theatrical visual for the album’s turn up anthem “Mix It.” On the high-energy album highlight, MoneyMarr spits fire, relentlessly delivering piercing, braggadocious bars over the trippy high-tempo, 808-heavy DJ Young Pharaoh, IRoccOnTheBeat, and Kuttabeatz beat. For the video, DMV quick-spitter takes an innovative approach, putting his own comical spin on a Food Network-style cooking show. In this whimsical visual, directed by Aesthetic Visuals, MoneyMarr’s ever-hypnotizing flow and hard-hitting bars prove to be, quite literally, the icing on the cake.
