SYML to share new EP DIM April 16, new single “STAY CLOSE” + video out today

“This is a personal song,” says SYML about “STAY CLOSE.” “My father has been slowly dying of pancreatic cancer for almost two years. It’s certainly about grief, but it’s also about a love so deep, it runs from our first breath until our last. It covers every experience we’ll ever have, and it goes beyond us when we leave this place. It’s almost supernatural but I know it to be real because I can sense it fully.” The track’s accompanying video captures SYML at his most vulnerable, singing alone as he experiences the varied emotions contained within the process of grief.

Like a trusted friend, contemporary jazz guitarist Les Sabler finds that playing guitar brings him tranquility, especially when the noise of the world becomes too much. He can disappear by slipping into an electric guitar groove and find calmness while exploring a nylon string guitar riff. While sheltering in place in his Nashville home during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic and as civil unrest erupted, Sabler quieted his mind while getting to know the vintage Gibson Johnny Smith guitar model recommended by his producer, two-time GRAMMY winner Paul Brown. The resulting album, “Tranquility,” a soothing cocktail of cosmopolitan jazz, soul-powered R&B grooves and mellifluous pop instrumentals, dropped last Friday on the New Vista label.

Monitors release “Previously…” out now on Analogue Trash

Born out of three cultures, Monitors are a group based on friendship. Formed in Paris in 2017, the group consists of Emil Balic (composer / bassist) and Chris Remick (lyricist / singer). In 2019 Feodor Trotta (drums) joined the group, providing electrifying percussive power to an already powerful live act. Although an optimistic group, Monitors do not shy away from writing about modern social concerns, which are both troubling yet hopeful. The lyrics are inspired by William Burroughs, JG Ballard and Edgar Allan Poe.

Irish indie music legend Cathal Coughlan presents ‘Owl In The Parlour’, the second track from his forthcoming album ‘Song of Co-Aklan’, his first new music in ten years, to be released via London label Dimple Discs. The accompanying video was created by Andy Golding (The Wolfhounds, Dragon Welding), presenting Co-Aklan in an infomercial of the most hallucinatory and lurid kind, which is nonetheless friendly and persuasive in tone.

“This song is, in part, a survey of the options in personal couture, animal husbandry and ‘inexpensive’ domestic staffing, which are now available to the spry middle-aged man in this era of global communication.
