Audio-visual Artistic Collaboration, MTRSS, Announce The Remix of Their Single “Cali High”

MTRSS is the LA-based project, an audio-visual voyage, a collaborative journey, exploring what happens when artists and digital alchemists get together to create order from chaos and chaos from order. “Cali High’s” journey started in the Sea of Japan, somewhere between Tokyo and Vladivostok. The team came up with a beautiful melody, as if they were plotting a course. New Zealand became their next destination, then made their way to California. The group of artists finished the original record there, then sent it all the way to Berlin where Farben added his dynamic touches.

There is an old soul that lives in the lo-fi R&B music Maritza Merk. Born in Brooklyn New York and raised in New Jersey, Maritza’s background is a huge element to what you hear, with a big up to her grandmother who held a part in her style of writing. Coming from a Haitian background, her grandmother always shared her memories with her, with beautiful people just enjoying their youth feeling an old Hollywood movie. It’s romantic and simple, and can be heard throughout the 10-track debut album released today, X.

Rising UK talent Redfield kicks off the five-track release, delivering an emotion-tinged progressive house rework, fit with euphoric drop. French DJ and producer Dombresky then channels feelgood, 90s house energy on his remix before Melbourne party starter Benson drops a pumping, stripped-back interpretation of the track. Next up, there’s a big room edit from Nightlapse, who previously linked up with MK to remix Anabel Englund single ‘So Hot’, and things are then closed out by Andre Salmon and Freedom B, whose club weapon remix centres around the deepest of basslines.

TENDER CENTRAL (BEN HOWARD) shares soaring new single ‘GALLOPER’

As she gears up for the release of her debut album ‘The Garden’ next week, Tender Central has shared soaring new single ‘Galloper’. Tender Central is the electronic folk-pop project of classically trained cellist and Ben Howard collaborator, India Bourne. Her new single ‘Galloper’ refers to her racing heart and the physical symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks. A powerful piece of dance-pop, ‘Galloper’ describes the way anxiety can feel like hooves thundering through your body like a horse, capable of great power, but with gentle compassion and refocusing can be calmed and be brought to peace. Though at times heavy, the songs on ‘The Garden’ are full of hope. ‘Sunlight touches on the echoed plains, raking fingers through the silver ash, phoenix stretches out a new born wing, feel the vigour ring’ the lyrics to ‘Galloper’ read, a sense of calm and growth is on the other side.

The story of the Swedish post-punk/goth pioneers THE BIZARRE ORKEZTRA. Chapter III: Visions On The Wall

The story of the Swedish post-punk/goth pioneers The Bizarre Orkeztra.
Chapter III : Visions On The Wall

In 1985 The Bizarre Orkeztra released their first full-length album on the Swedish indie label Ambush Records. The album established them as one of the most important and influential Swedish bands in their genre.

In the early ’80s, The Bizarre Orkeztra arose from the ashes of the cult punk rock band PF Commando and the avant-garde post-punk band Modaern Art. The band was one of the early goth bands in Sweden and released three albums and several singles before disbanding in the late ’80s.

Jessi Mac share video for new single ‘Bedroom Years’

London trio Jessi Mac have shared the video for their new single, ‘Bedroom Years’, the latest track to be taken from their upcoming debut EP, Border Lines, out on February 4th.

Leeds-based art-rock, Mush (Memphis Industries-signed ffo: Girl Band, Stereolab) | Share new single, “Seven Trumpets”

Lines Redacted sets a different tone from their 2020 debut, 3D Routine (tipped in Rough Trade’s Best Albums of 2020 and at Stereogum, BBC 6, Loud & Quiet, Uncut, Q, Paste, DIY, etc) – the first record was very much a product of its environment – in part sculpted by the band’s often fraught live shows with Girl Band, The Lovely Eggs and Stereolab – looking to weigh in on the very real socialist option that was on the table in the UK at the time, this new one is something of the present-day dystopia, documenting the redacted and confusing environment that we now live in. We announced the record in November 2020 with the first single “Blunt Instruments” which had some nice tips at NPR, The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, Alt Citizen, Loud & Quiet, etc – it also bagged the 6 Music playlist and was tipped by Jack Saunders at Radio 1 (tipped the band as his “Next Wave”).

video: TASSHO PEARCE, “BROKEN WINGS”

“We were able to flip something negative into a positive because the scenery fits the vibe of the song with Mark Nazal’s kind of like haunting vocals on the hook, but it’s also a time stamp,” Pearce says. “When people see this video years from now they will know exactly where they were at that time.” HI Story is out now on Flip The Bird Entertainment.

Canada’s Trauma Lanes blends post-hardcore and punk in new single release “King of Thieves”

“King of Thieves,” by Milton, Ontario’s Trauma Lanes, sounds like a burning Cadillac El Dorado ripping down a wintery Canadian Highway. Blending the sassy emotions of post-hardcore and the chaotic distortion of punk, “King of Thieves,” explodes right out of the gate—with its heavy, palm-muted guitar chug intro—into an incendiary and aggressive track peppered with complex riffs, thundering drum fills, and cheeky harsh vocals.

“It’s the sassiest sounding thing since Peter Venkman,” says vocalist Brendan “Sinco” Sincovich.

Labyrinth of Thoughts records will reissue Black Pyramid’s self-titled album on February 12th, 2021.

Black Pyramid play doom with the rumbling down-tuned tones of stoner metal gods, but with the epic arrangements of old school metal and doom acts. Add to the sonic brew perfectly executed forays into vintage psych and progressive rock, along with the apocalyptic lyrical ravings about war, the occult, and general alienation, and you’ve got an accurate picture of what the band is all about.

Labyrinth of Thoughts records are reissuing the band’s self-titled album, a true gem of the metal scene which has been out of print and unavailable for many years now. It was originally released via MeteorCity in 2009.
