Mohegan Sun Arena Reimagined Relevance With Live Televised Events Throughout The Pandemic

2020 was a historic year that resulted in every major entertainment venue across the globe shutting down due to the worst pandemic in a century, Moheagn-sun-arena-bellator-mma-2020-year-end-release.jpgaccounting for billions in lost live entertainment revenue. Mohegan Sun Arena still found a way to stay open and generate a new revenue stream by reimagining itself as a residency broadcast center. Industry leading safety protocols joined the hard-working entertainment division at Mohegan Sun, led by Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment’s (MGE) President of Sports & Entertainment, Tom Cantone – and soon major sporting events (Bellator MMA, SHOWTIME Sports and College Basketball), were planned and executed without fans in attendance. As a result, Mohegan Sun Arena became one of only few venues in the United States open and producing live events. In all, these residencies in 2020 brought in 650+ professional and college athletes competing to audiences stretching in the millions across network TV, pay-per-view, social media platforms and streaming services, the latter of which had huge impacts on increased viewership.

The Lathums go dark with ‘Joker’ beach performance…

Wordy and worldy indie four-piece, The Lathums, land somewhere between Bowie’s famous stroll across East Sussex sands in Ashes To Ashes, the heart-stopping catatonia of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and the monochrome menace of A Clockwork Orange in the absorbingly surreal, widescreen promo for their track, Foolish Parley. LOWRIDER: watch new video “Red River” off widely-acclaimed “Refractions” album!

Sweden’s stoner rock masters LOWRIDER unveil the first ever video taken from their widely-acclaimed new album “Refractions”, released in the winter of 2020 through Blues Funeral Recordings. This collaborative video sees Lowrider fans rocking out on anthemic track “Red River” — a great way of wrapping up the year and thanking the scene and fans for the endless praise “Refractions” has received, as it hit #1 on numerous international year-end lists. Watch “Red River” now on The Obelisk!

“Let’s face it, it’s been a weird, long, hard year for everyone. When we were gearing up to put out Refractions after working on it pretty much for 7 years straight, everything was still normal. We were so excited to share the album with everyone, but dreams of festivals and gigs changed pretty much instantly by the time it was released. But, in a year that in many ways has kept us isolated from each other, we’ve really gotten closer than ever to everyone who listens, thanks to social media and the wonderful scene we get to be part of. The feedback on Refractions and the personal messages we’ve gotten over the year have meant everything. And, with recent year-end lists lifting Refractions up high, often to the highest spot, we wanted to say thank you to everyone, and give something back that shows just how special this scene is”, comments LOWRIDER.

Jahn calls the EP an “ugly duckling story.” The lead single ‘Twisted,’ in its upbeat dance club tempo, is meant to be somewhat of a joke but features lyrics about the repressed anger someone is feeling after a traumatic event—much like Jahn has experienced in real life.

New York Times bestselling author and widower Jason Rosenthal says practicing resilience and noticing the goodness of humanity will help make 2021 a brighter year for those who have suffered great losses during Covid-19.

Although many have suffered in 2020 due to the global pandemic, Jason believes we can rise above this distress by creating a sense of community and seeing the goodness in humanity.

“As the new year approaches, remember to lead your life in with empathy and kindness, a concoction that will make the losses of 2020 more tolerable, be they financial, emotional, electoral, a mate or another loss,” Jason says.

Jason became nationally known after his wife wrote a heart-wrenching essay for The New York Times days before her death from ovarian cancer. The “Modern Love” piece titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband” went viral reaching more than 5 million worldwide and encouraged Jason to find love again after her death. skinsNbones release ‘There’s Reason (feat. Jason Kafoa)’

A sense of defiance reigns supreme over the heartfelt hard rock ethos of skinsNbones soulful “There’s Reason (feat. Jason Kafoa). Stylistically they are heavily rooted in hard rock, with elements of country, grunge and more thrown into the fray for further emphasis. By far the highlight of the piece comes from the commanding voice, one that radiates confidence and a desire to overcome. It is this impulse that guides the track along, whether it is the western twang of the guitar riffs to the steady persistent beat of the drums, it all works wonders in a singular whole.

They waste no time in getting started for the steady pulse of the rhythm reigns supreme. Highly meditative the tempo has an almost Zen-like calm, one that accurately depicts wide open skies and endless possibility. Right on top of it all are those vocals that are sung with such urgency, a need to inspire others towards a better way of being. Lyrics are of the utmost importance with every verse weighted for maximum impact as the rest of the song gently rolls forward. When they let the guitarists loose, they deliver some truly spellbinding solos that seem to soar up into the sky. For the final stretch they let it all sink in with the message becoming ever clearer until it ends with a joyous burst of the drums.

Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers) Announces LP, Shares “Born Stupid” Track

On “Born Stupid,” Leary says: “Born Stupid” is the title track for my new album. It was born from a revelation I had while riding my bicycle that I am not as smart as I wish I was. The video for this song is my first video ever attempted. And it is stupid”

Paul Leary issued his debut solo album The History Of Dogs in 1991. And now, thirty years later he’s releasing the follow up Born Stupid. Thirty years may seem like an oddly excessive length of time between albums, but that’s apropos, as nearly all the highlights of Leary’s legendary career have been odd and excessive.

The Mommyheads announce remaster of their classic early 90s indie rock album “Coming Into Beauty”

After being out-of-print and unavailable online for nearly three decades, the Mommyheads’ innovative, 1992 sophomore release, Coming Into Beauty, has been remastered for physical and digital formats. A truly experimental work, the album sees the band fusing rich melodies with avant-garde techniques, making for a one-of-a-kind listening experience. The remastered edition of Coming Into Beauty will be available digitally on February 12, 2021.

Justy shy of their 20s, the Mommyheads were finding studio time whenever and wherever they could to track their wild new compositions, largely penned by Adam Elk and then-bassist Matt Patrick. By the time the material had coalesced into a full-length album, it had become a gently kaleidoscopic patchwork, covering uncharted indie pop territory. The album defies cohesion and plays more like an early Frank Zappa record in its playful photo-book sprawl.
