French producer Polocorp drops debut single, ‘Gnawa’

Disco Halal is proud to welcome Paul Armnad-Delille, aka Polocorp, to its roster. Paul needs little introduction, as Polo he is one half of seminal French duo Polo and Pan.

During a magical ride through Morocco, Polocorp was enchanted by the local Gnawa sound. After a short search he encountered a few super talented musicians, creating ‘The Atlas Collective’ of Simo Baala, Abdallah Roudani, Monclif Boubul and Andrey Zouzari. Together they inspired Polocorp to create the sounds that helped shape this mystical collection, and feature on the title track.

Disciples drop acoustic video for ‘I Got You’

Platinum-selling UK dance music dons Disciples have unveiled the acoustic video for their latest single ‘I Got You’, out 4th December.

The acoustic video for ‘I Got You’ sees Disciples vocalist Duvall perform an emotion-tinged live performance of the track in the company of a pianist in an atmospheric warehouse setting.

“We don’t often do acoustic versions of our songs, but the lyrics in ‘I Got You’ felt like they needed to be heard again!” Disciples enthuse. “We hope people can relate, especially during this time!”

IDLES – Share new video for ‘Kill Them With Kindness’

Today, IDLES have shared a new animated video for album highlight “Kill Them With Kindness”. The video, which was directed and designed by James Carbutt and animated by Pip Williamson, is taken from the band’s critically-acclaimed UK number one album “Ultra Mono”, which was released in September via Partisan Records.

Speaking about the video, the director says, “The dingy pub setting in the film is based on the Working Men’s Clubs of my hometown (Barnsley). It was nice to imagine IDLES bursting in and spreading a message of love. During our research we discovered that no two Wetherspoons carpets are the same, they are all unique like snowflakes, so yeah making this film was a wild ride.”

GRAMMY-nominated duo Black Violin release “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” video

Today, the classical-meets-hip-hop duo Black Violin released their video for “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” taken from their debut holiday album Give Thanks. Produced by Phil Beaudreau, the album was released on November 20, 2020. “Give Thanks employs playful storytelling, whimsical strings, and hard-hitting rhythms to highlight the unifying pillars of the holiday season: Giving back to others and being wholeheartedly thankful,” Black Violin says of the full-length.

Alice In Chains receive Museum Of Pop Culture’s Founders Award

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) this week presented Seattle rock icons Alice In Chains with its 14th Annual Founders Award, an honour given to artists who have made outstanding contributions to popular music.

The museum, along with Amazon Music, has also announced the release of MoPOP Founders Award Honouring Alice In Chains: A Benefit for the Museum of Pop Culture, a brand-new Amazon Originals compilation. Available for streaming only on Amazon Music, the compilation features highlights from the event’s performances, including Mastodon’s cover of ‘Again’, City and Colour’s take on ‘Rain When I Die’, two covers of ‘Would?’ by KORN and Metallica, a rendition of ‘Man In the Box’ by Dave Navarro, Taylor Hawkins, Corey Taylor, and Chris Chaney, and more. The compilation also features performances of ‘Your Decision’ and ‘No Excuses’ by Alice In Chains.

DEAFHEAVEN DELIVER NEW LIVE RECORDED ALBUM

Deafheaven has capped an incredible ten year run with the release of 10 Years Gone, available today via Sargent House. The album, which serendipitously acts as a career retrospect, was initially conceived as the setlist for a since-canceled world tour meant to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their first EP demo, released June 1st of 2010. With Covid taking touring away for the conceivable future, the band decided to record the set live at Atomic Garden studios. With songs that span their discography, including the first song they ever wrote, 10 Years Gone is an excellent look into a band that has continuously challenged the scope of what rock and metal can be.

“Quicksand” Hitmaker Morray Returns with the Woozy Banger “Low Key”

Rising rapper Morray makes waves with his expressive vocals, twisting melodies, and raw lyricism.
