THE HAUNT Premiere ‘Twisted Dream’ w/ BLOODY DISGUSTING (Video by Jawbreaker Director Darren Stein)

The third single from the band’s forthcoming Social Intercourse transmission,”Twisted Dream” is not a metaphor, it’s a living, breathing being.

Written by vocalist Anastasia Grace, she vividly recalls its inception, “It’s an actual dream about a fleeting relationship I had my freshman year of high school. I just couldn’t get this dream out of my head. My grandfather has a beach house not far from where I live and for a while I was going over there to be by myself and write. And I kept thinking about this dream. It was probably just an anxiety dream about being 15 and trying to figure out what I wanted but it was kind of gory and disturbing, so of course I immediately thought to make it into a song.”

The melody interlaces flavors of country, rock, and reggae with chanting, rap-lite vocals backed by reggae-laced harmonies, imbuing the lyrics with chiding redress. Following the bridge, a deliciously braying saxophone wails with gusto, injecting the harmonics with burnished zest…The video is a trip, depicting the exploitative agenda of news programs and reporters, who inflate, distort, and amplify the news to gargantuan dimensions, playing on the fear and anxiety of their viewers…”NooZies” confronts the news media, challenging them to convey the facts rather than inflammatory innuendo, and does it with potent, swashbuckling music”

New York alt. r&b artist An Only Child shares effortlessly cool “Pick Me Up After Work”

an only child on “Pick Me Up After Work”:

“Pick Me Up After Work was inspired by a recurring fantasy I had when I worked my corporate 9-5. I have a thing for motorcycles and pickup trucks so whenever I felt unfulfilled or bored at my job, I imagined some bad boy waiting for me with his bike outside the office lobby.

PMAUW is my personal favorite because it’s so playful. I’m very used to writing from a place of deep pain or intensity. Although I was effectively depressed when I wrote it, this song is one of the only tracks on the record that doesn’t remind me of my pain. It’s sensual, whimsical even, and feels like my higher self. It was a lot of fun to record as well. I played the chords and sang for my Producer, Crow, who later brought in the drum sample. Somehow we both knew a saxophone had to be involved. Crow plays bass for an amazing musician called Sonny Step who basically did the part in one take. We were shook.”

Opening with a driving four-on-the-floor beat, the dynamic producers quickly employ a kickdrum-driven frenzy complete with funky, growling synths and distorted vocals; the track’s name is a nod to days gone by when packed dark dancefloors and crowded festival stages were every reveler’s weekend reality. “Good Old Days” will bring you right back to being under the lights of your favorite venue, dancing the night away; just press play. The track follows their “They Don’t Know” single and CAMARDA’s remix of Nicky Romero & Florian Picasso’s “Only For Your Love.”

UPSAHL’S Young Life Crisis EP Out Today Via Arista Records

Regarding the project, she confessed, “I had a young life crisis this year. As I was gaining clarity and getting hype to grab life by the balls, I was sent home after Day 1 of a 3-month tour and started quarantining. Since then, I temporarily moved back in with my parents, went through a shitty breakup, moved back to LA, gained and lost friends, and have discovered new problems that we all go through as I crossed over from 20 to 21. The constant breaking down and repairing made me see the world differently—and it lowkey freaked me out. I know it’s all a part of ‘growing up,’ but no one could prepare you for the growing pains of life during a global pandemic lol. The one flip side is that I got into writing songs over Zoom. It afforded me the ability to write multiple songs with multiple people every day instead of spending hours driving in LA traffic! This EP is the result of all those sessions, narrating my young life crisis. I’ve learned more about myself this year; I’ve grown more as a person than ever before. 2020 has sparked an existential crisis for all of us, so here’s mine. 21-years-old, trying to figure out what the fuck I’m doing, and raging through it all.”

Sir Sly Releases Acoustic Version Of “Material Boy”

Sir Sly lead singer and guitarist Landon Jacobs said of the track, “When I lost my faith at 22, I figured it was the end of any kind of spiritual life for me. I now believe spirituality to simply be a process of becoming comfortable with unknowing. I wrote the lyrics to “Material Boy” about feeling free to explore spirituality outside of the bounds of my childhood faith. I stopped drinking 2 years ago, and this song is about how I’ve learned to cope with life without the familiar escape of getting drunk. I hope it can give others a sense of relief the way it has for me.”

Folk Singer-Songwriter Sadie Gustafson-Zook to Release ‘Vol. 1’

It’s the first single from Vol. 1, set for Jan. 15 release.

“I think it’s my most wholesome song,” Gustafson-Zook says. “Because being in love with a woman made so much more sense than anything I had felt before. I just had to lean into uncertainty to figure it out.”

Over the course of the last year, the band, consisting of singer/guitarist Jesse Johnson, bassist Omar D Brancato and drummer Matt Tucci, have been putting out a steady stream of singles reflecting the exhilarating highs and frustrating lows of relationships. They’ve perfected punk-inflected power pop, angst-ridden indie gems and shoe-gazing whimsical confections—and are now ready to simply tear it up with their fourth single, “Inside Out.” The band have never sounded so stripped down and raw which suits the new song’s half wistful, half regretful “lost the girl” vignette perfectly.
