L.A. Duo Mines Falls Release “Red Moon, Car Wreck” Single

Quote fom Carson Lund: I had been traveling quite a bit for my job when I wrote this song, touching on all corners of the country, finding myself in quiet towns I’d never heard of before, and not communicating with family and friends for long stretches. I crave this isolation and independence, but it also distances me from people, and “Red Moon, Car Wreck” attempts to connect who I’ve become with who I was as a child. Life is a series of comings and goings, but this song is about trying to stay in one place.

The Alternative declared, “While In Sickness & In Flames was written prior to the pandemic, so much of it feels so tethered to our present collective experience, from the introspection and reflective growth that is showcased in the songwriting, to the sweeping highs and lows of the music itself. This album is the perfect companion piece to the anxiety of standing in the face of uncertainty.” NME attested, “In Sickness & In Flames is a defining work that showcases a sonic universe, rather than a structured set of songs, expertly capturing the inescapable tension of 2020.”

Multi-Platinum Philadelphia musician ROZES has released her single “Crazy” today via Photo Finish Records (SHAED, joan, Elliot Lee). “Crazy is a very vulnerable song for me,” states ROZES, “I wanted to write something that portrayed how impulsive and erratic my love tends to be; how I can see everything disappearing and falling to place simultaneously. I’ve always thought that the way I love is ‘crazy’ but have always chosen to feel over hiding my true emotions. As an artist and writer, I have always been drawn to such intense relationships and have always latched onto a love that tends to be unpredictable but what others might refer to as unstable.”

“Most narratives of songs are about not being able to find love because other people hurt you, but ‘Can’t Find It’ is about not finding love because I was hurting people. ‘Where were you when my heart felt so cold.. I been lost… just leave me alone… I can’t take it no more’ explains MY heart was cold. I was the one giving the cold shoulder. I was the one who was lost in my head and because of that, I pushed people out and still expected people to love me. But how can they when you don’t let them in, you know? This song is a reminder to me and anyone that listens to it that we all have or develop toxic attributes, but it’s up to us to realize them, openly accept we have them and then correct them to be better versions of ourselves.”

Oliver Wood Releases Debut Single – A Collaboration w/ Phil Cook – “Soul Of This Town”

“‘Soul Of This Town’ is a full-on collaboration with my friend Phil Cook. The first time I heard Phil’s music I knew right away I wanted to sing and play with him. We didn’t know each other then, but when a mutual friend introduced us, we hit it off immediately, and made plans to write together. A few months later Phil was coming through Nashville and we booked a few hours in the studio. The week before he came he sent me chords and a melody he had. He didn’t have lyrics, but he did reference Bob Dylan’s ‘Nashville Skyline’ and mentioned the present day rapid growth of Nashville, cranes everywhere and the face of the town changing with every visit,” explains Oliver. “I loved Phil’s ideas and thought about Nashville, and then thought more universally about a lot of cities where gentrification is not only changing the look of the place, but displacing so many people. Cities are literally selling their souls in the name of growth and progress, which obviously doesn’t benefit everyone (though you’d think it should and could). I immediately wrote a few verses and a chorus and sent it back to Phil. He got excited and wrote a few verses too, and by the time we got to the studio it didn’t take us long to flesh it out and perform it live together. We recorded what we thought would be a demo of the song, but it turned out we loved having captured our first performance together and it felt special enough to keep and release.”
