Using vivid imagery to describe the city as an ‘old machine’, Havelock likens his insignificant existence to a ‘cog that’s turning’ and a ‘pipe that’s bursting’. The feel of the track is reminiscent of industrial dub and reggae styles, and he describes his struggles playfully in verse 2 with a charismatic rap to really bring the story to life and to show his versatility as an artist. This song was brought into existence as a result of Havelock’s disdain of working dead-end jobs that he took no interest in.

numün (mems SUSS, Gamelan Dharma Swara) Releases “first steps” Single (new music/ambient/deep listening)

Here are quotes from Bob Holmes and Christopher Romero about it: Quote from Bob Holmes: There are two things that I really like about this song. The first is that it reminds me of a child’s pop-up book, in that in starts off very flat, and then in the middle you turn a page and a beautiful 3D landscape pops up right in front of your eyes, seemingly out of nowhere. Second, the song has this beautiful coda with the fretless banjo that reminds me of the end of Buffalo Springfield’s “Bluebird” and like that song, a completely psychedelic song turns into a peaceful interlude when you least expect it.
