It’s ‘Bout to Be a Purple Summer: 03 Greedo Shares Track with Chief Keef

One of the rap game’s most restlessly creative minds, 03 Greedo spent the months leading to his prison sentence recording countless songs with a long list of quality collaborators. Ready to reveal the latest fruits of his labor, Greedo shares “Bands In Da Basement,” his first new single of 2020. A simmering, percolating slice of West Coast rap, “Bands In Da Basement” finds the Alamo Records signee mixing easy melodies and biting flows, teetering at the edges of his vocal range as he recalls his trapping past: “Bands in the basement, money in the mattress/Work in the walls, I got millions in my mansion.” Produced by Ron-Ron, a frequent Greedo collaborator, new song boasts a guest verse from Chief Keef, another experimenter who blurs the lines between singing and rapping, who delivers an auto-tuned, ad-lib-laden 16.

Social Animals Releases New Single “Something to Keep Me Awake”

Social Animals have shared their new track “Something to Keep Me Awake” today via Rise Records. Recorded pre-COVID-19 at Chris Carrabba’s home studio (Dashboard Confessional), the track is eerily fitting for this time; a time when each day feels like a struggle and each news bulletin stokes a fire of desiring change, of protest, of restoring faith in humanity. The accompanying video shows footage of the band on the European leg of their tour with Ash which was cut short due to the current crisis along with their North American tour with Beach Slang.

Conor Maynard follows last month’s single ‘Nothing But You’ by today sharing the new big pop ballad ‘For The Night’, which again demonstrates Conor’s exceptional vocals brimming with emotion.

CAMÍNA shares political, Latin trip-hop first single “Cinnamon” with video made by BLM video creator

Dallas-based artist, CAMÍNA, shares her first single, “Cinnamon,” today and announces her debut album, Te Quiero Mucho, due out October 2, 2020. “Cinnamon” is a marimba-infused trip-hop beat that introduces the album’s Latin musical influences. A particularly prescient song given recent events, “Cinnamon” was initially inspired by the ongoing treatment of asylum seekers at the US-Mexico border. Sung through a distorted megaphone, CAMINA’s haunting vocals blend together lyrical elements of African-American spirituals (“Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen”), the rallying cry of grassroots activism (“Si se puede” or “Yes we can”), and feelings of helplessness for the future (“We will rise above, but the damage is done”).

OUT TODAY: David Ramirez – ‘My Love Is A Hurricane’ via Thirty Tigers

For the introspective 10-song set, he teamed up with Dallas producer Jason Burt (Leon Bridges, Sarah Jaffe, Paul Cauthen) to layer his widely acclaimed vocals atop “misty psychedelic undertones and potent gospel arrangements” (NPR Music). Already receiving high praise, No Depression calls My Love Is A Hurricane “a next-level album,” adding, “It’s a warm, groove-driven record in the tradition of Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen — or at least the Cohen who sang “there is a crack in everything / that’s how the light gets in.”

“Soledad” by Madeline Louie (prod. Jnatra)

“Soledad” is a surreal song encapsulating the feeling of the sun in San Diego, which is where Madeline Louie spent her college days. Nostalgia and memories have become a driving inspiration in her writing, especially in times of social distancing. Jnatra, her creative collaborator and friend, initiated the idea for “Soledad” after sharing a beat— a synthy, dance-pop track with driving kicks and sparkling reverb. Madeline Louie and Jnatra are the type of creatives that need to feel busy to stay sane, so, over the past couple of weeks indoors (in addition to their full-time jobs!) they’ve been working on an EP together to be released next Fall.

Matt Berninger of the National debuts “Distant Axis”

Berninger explains about the track, which he wrote with The Walkmen’s Walter Martin, “I met Walter Martin fifteen years ago when The National opened for The Walkmen on a tour of shitty clubs in the American Southeast. On that tour I learned a lot about how to be in a band without ruining your life. I also learned a lot about Florida, Tennessee and Georgia. Walt and I have stayed friends and about three years ago we started passing ideas back and forth. ‘Distant Axis’ started from a sketch Walt sent me named ‘Savannah.’ I think it’s about falling out of touch with someone or something you once thought would be there forever.”

LIMOUSINE BEACH Release Drop Video For “Stealin’ Wine”

Pittsburgh PA’s triple lead guitar outfit Limousine Beach combine concentrated songwriting and nimble fretwork with soaring vocal harmonies to become the world’s first “sizzle rock” band.

Galimatias returns with “Redeye” from debut full-length album

Galimatias infuses ‘Redeye’ with his unmistakable, aquatic sense of spaciousness, from the layered vocals that weave in and out of one another in the chorus, to the graceful, running pianos, smooth drums, and his vulnerable, reverb-soaked voice. Submerged in late-night feelings, “Redeye,” is a viscous, gooey track that moves with sensuality and desire. Born during a trip to Costa Rica, Galimatias uses field recordings of rain and birdsong to capture the aural palette of the tropical climate, the headspace of those lonely hours where all other noise fades into the background and you’re left alone with your thoughts, memories, regrets, hopes, and desires.

That mid century Atomic Age; Long lasting to go that extra mile, now and forever,” states IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT about the new track.

Half Moon Run Releases Seasons of Change EP

The band first shared a socially distant COVIDEO version of their song “Grow into Love” on their social accounts back in May as many fans were isolated. The video was met with great response from their fans. As a way to stay connected while stuck at home, the band continued to share their previously unreleased tracks. Band member Devon Portielje describes that “the songs on this EP were recorded at the same time as A Blemish in the Great Light, and although we decided to keep them separate, they include some of our very favorite material from those sessions.”

Multiplatinum singer-songwriter Ally Brooke and Latin-trap superstar Messiah have teamed up for a hot new collaborative single “500 Veces” – available now via Latium Entertainment/Atlantic Records. The bilingual track arrives alongside a blazing Michael Garcia-directed music video, shot earlier this month in the deserted outskirts of Los Angeles.

“Adapt” is Casey Bowen, Boo Rogers, and Danny Gil’s 4th full-length studio record together…and…(wait of it)…it is acoustic. The band ventured out to LA to team up with producer/engineer Jim Finley to create the album. But this is not your standard metal band’s acoustic record. This is something different. With “Adapt”, Downfall 2012 is excited to offer a reinvented incarnation of the band, with an ensemble of eight entirely reinterpreted originals that will appeal to a broad audience, across demographics and musical tastes.

Zoe & Cloyd blend musical styles in klezmer medley

With their latest Organic Records single, Zoe & Cloyd reveal once again their unique ability to blend mountain music with the klezmer music legacy of Natalya Zoe Weinstein’s family on “Hoffman’s Hora/David’s Frailach.”

Incorporating two klezmer tunes — the first from a 1923 recording by xylophonist Jacob Hoffman, the second from sheet music in the handwriting of Weinstein’s grandfather — the medley marks a further refinement of the synthesis Weinstein and John Cloyd Miller have been exploring since the formation of Zoe & Cloyd, including “Berditchever Sher” and “Zisa Meydele” on 2019’s I Am Your Neighbor. Woven together with their authentic renditions of Appalachian old-time, folk and bluegrass songs, as well as their roots-inspired originals, it’s an integral part of the duo’s musical identity.
