Joshua Ackley is a solo musician based in Brooklyn, NY. Born in South Carolina, and raised on a farm in rural New Mexico, he moved to NYC at the age of 19 to pursue music and escape homophobia. He’s been on the music scene ever since – as the bassist and frontman of NYC art-punk band The Dead Betties & co-leader of rock band, Teen Vice, with the legendary Tammy Hart. In addition to being passionate about music, Ackley has been an advocate for woman and minorities in his professional life. While serving as Vice President of Communications for Girl Scouts of the USA for 10 years, he became the center of attacks from conservative journalists including Breitbart.com, Bill O’Reilly, & The Daily Mail who alleged he was contributing to the leftist and homosexual indoctrination of children (the “gay agenda”). Despite the controversy, Ackley stayed at Girl Scouts until 2019.

UNI is back with their latest single and stunning visual “Debris.” The video premiered exclusively with NYLON, praising, “It’s got all the landmarks of an apocalyptic blockbuster soundtrack, which probably explains the track’s impressive accompanying video: a Mad Max: Fury Road and Stranger Things mash-up, complete with face prosthetics and eerie middle America wandering.”

Marlowe is a collaborative alt-rap project from North Carolina-based hip-hop producer L’Orange and rapper Solemn Brigham. Their unique blend of quick-fire vocals and dusty breakbeats is most well-known on tracks such as “Lost Arts” and “Tales From The East.” The project came together in 2018 with the intent of marrying Brigham’s lyrics concerning social commentary, police brutality, and poverty with L’Orange’s thudding beats and crackling vinyl samples to achieve a new, refreshing take on hip-hop in modern times. Marlowe 2 seeks to continue that legacy.

Kendell Marvel Drops New Single and Video for “Houston”
While in the studio recording his critically acclaimed Solid Gold Sounds, beloved Nashville singer-songwriter Kendell Marvel was hipped to something new, something that stuck with him well after initial contact; the songs of Lee Hazlewood. During those sessions, co-producer Dave Ferguson introduced Marvel to one particular Hazlewood tune, “Houston,” that the team—along with Easy Eye Sound founder and co-producer, Dan Auerbach—went on to record right then and there. While it didn’t make the final tracklisting of Solid Gold Sounds, Marvel knew that this recording was special, and decided to hold onto it for a later release.
Matt Berry Shares New Track “Something In My Eye”
The ever-busy BAFTA award winning actor continues his remarkable musical meanderings with this new collection of songs that follows his last outing, the brilliantly conceived and rapturously received Television Themes from 2018. Renowned for his love of all things musical and genre defying inventiveness over the course of his previous output, Phantom Birds is an extraordinary album that not only see Berry on vocal duties but for the most part playing most of the instrumentation, aided and abetted by legendary pedal steel guitarist BJ Cole and like-minded drummer Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett).
Isaac shares, “I grew up in Seattle, my father is a big belly rude boy Rasta from the Virgin Islands. My whole life I grew up with Rastafarians. Jacuzzi is dread from creation. My ultimate goal with my career is to leave a positive legacy and heal the nation through music through weed and through love.”
Watch post-punk band PAST FIVE’s artistic expression of frustration in new “God Forbid” lyric video
“This song is about a relationship that is coming to end and in a way it’s a sequel to our song ‘Clichés’ (from our EP ‘Somewhere Between Serenity & Rage),” says guitarist Jonathan Yderhag. “But where ‘Clichés’ is more mournful of the relationship dying, ‘God Forbid’ is written much more so from a point of frustration and desire to move on.”
New Single, Inspired By Nostalgic Underwater Video Games
“This track was inspired by nostalgic underwater video games I used to play as a child,” Drew says. “It started with just two guitars, and built on from there. It is meant to depict a sultry day at the beach.”

Directors Mark Rubbo and Chad Tennies developed the concept for a CGI fully animated music video with 3D camera moves rendered in real-time, creating stylized avatars for the inspirational song. The visual matches the ebulliently effusive energy, potent power and grooves of the track. A colorful animated interpretation of “Find A Way,” it plays out like a high-octane flick somewhere between Avatar and Black Panther. It also shows the scope of Duckwrth’s ever-expanding vision.
