UK’s ALVAREZ KINGS Release New “Emotionally-Charged, Hook-Filled” Single “Words I Couldn’t Say”; Now Streaming Everywhere

Vocalist Simon Thompson tells PopMatters, “The song came about when I was turning our spare room at home into our baby’s nursery as the acoustics were awesome. I was writing songs off of the back of some pretty extensive touring over the years. There were definitely some issues with alcohol and substance abuse as a result, which impacted heavily on relationships. It’s not necessarily an autobiography or about one person in particular. It’s a story of an uncontrollable collision course of self-destruction from drug and alcohol abuse, the desolation of a failed relationship, and self-blame. ‘Words I Couldn’t Say’ is the burden of the truth and a lie that is too heavy to carry.”

GANG OF FOUR releases “Day Turns To Night” single.

But listening now, I’m glad I wrote it with no thought of where it might go—it’s just a pure distillation of the years I’d spent with Andy and the band.

Balancing melancholic, piano-driven verses with synth-soaked pop choruses, “Static” arrives as a track that is lyrically and musically in sync.

The video was constructed through a series of bi-weekly Instagram posts, each depicting a scene painted in watercolor. The video used the “poll” feature on Instagram Stories for tallying the audience choices. The video was then hosted and voted on @longwavetheband and @billmoldt Instagram pages. Multicultural Activist Raye Zaragoza New Single

Zaragoza confides “Growing up, all I ever wanted to be was the it girl. I thought that meant I needed to be a pretty blonde princess Barbie who met her Prince Charming and rode off into the sunset. This fantasy left me with immense inner turmoil and self-hatred. In high school, I would even lighten my skin with lemon juice, dye my hair lighter, and wear blue contacts. I truly thought that in order to be beautiful, you had to be white. The It Girl is my outcry for diverse representation in media, a plea to throw out the old rule book of western expectations of women. I am proud to be a multicultural brown woman with insecurities and a vibrant intersectional identity that I continue to grapple with.”

Logan Farmer Announces Debut LP ‘Still No Mother” Out 8/21

Newly signed to Western Vinyl, Logan Farmer will release his debut album Still No Mother on August 21st, 2020. On the spacious and somber album, the Colorado songwriter processes and explores climate change anxiety using the framework of the American folk song. Today he shared the haunting, understated first single “Rome, Through A Fog” alongside its cinematic video; of the clip, Farmer explains: “The concept of the video came from discussions that I had with director Ben Ward about his interest in documenting the forgotten communities of eastern Colorado, a vast and often drought-ridden region of the Great Plains. He had been introduced to Carlin Stratton, a cattle rancher in the small town of Otis, and spent a few days with him and a small production crew, filming Carlin’s daily routine on 16mm film. The final product is a stirring short documentary as well as a fitting visual accompaniment to ‘Rome, Through a Fog’, a vaguely defiant song about memory and life in the ruins of an empire.”
