“‘Freedom’ was a song I wrote at the end of 2019. It was before the George Floyd murder and before all the protesting and looting started happening in the US. It’s a song that I feel like my people needed at the time, not even realizing months later that I would be witnessing the biggest revolution of my lifetime. “The art of war, it’s a meaning behind the message, you don’t need a gun or sword if you treat ya mind as the weapon” is my favorite line in the song. My people have to stay 10 steps ahead mentally in order to fight this battle with the institutional and systemic racism we fight on the daily. Our anger and frustration right now is justified.” -Che Noir

Mr Ben & The Bens Share New Track “Danny”
Of the track bandleader Ben Hall says: “Danny is a song I wrote over a super-frenetic new-wave guitar line. The syllables ‘Danny’ came out of the ether during the writing process and I liked how the name sat in the song so decided to write a tune that would sit in the great lineage of name-led pop songs. The song deals with what I think is a totally underwritten topic of unrequited friendship. I decided to keep the age and identity of Danny totally ambiguous and rather lean on locations in the song to move the narrative forward. We added some bombastic Bruce Springsteen style baritone guitar in the studio which really makes the song pop!’”.

SEMANTICS return with anthemic new track ‘BLUELIGHT’
“Bluelight discusses the effect sensationalist and oversaturated media has on the young mind. We’ve put it into a metaphor, where the consumer is practically talking to the article as if the media was personified. This opens an opportunity for the listener to apply their own experiences to the narrative while maintaining a clear point; journalism and politics have regressed into an opinionated, subjective form, skewing and manipulating our outlook in a toxic, contagious fashion,” explains vocalist, Callum Robinson.

NEWS: Chris Stamey & the Fellow Travelers’ ‘A Brand New Shade off Blue
Chris Stamey’s collaboration with the Fellow Travelers, A Brand-New Shade of Blue, was inspired by the intimate small-combo sound of the late ’50s and early ’60s — a time when the “cool jazz” compositions of such luminaries as John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk lived alongside the expanding pop vocabulary of Burt Bacharach and Jimmy Webb.
“These are songs for late nights and rainy days,” Chris explains. “I wrote most of it in the dark of winter, in whispers, in the ‘wee small hours of the morning,’ that magic time ‘when the whole wide world is fast asleep.’ And these great singers and musicians kept that mood alive throughout the sessions that followed.”
