Playya 1000 & The Deeksta “My Heart Hurts” New Movement
“Ok ok I feel you today / But know that those feelings are fading away” go the cutting lyrics in Bokito’s new single. ‘Okok’ hones in on the uglier part of human relations: their severance, with a fierce musicality that makes for one of the year’s most poignant and cathartic indie singles. Opening with a palpitating kick drum beat and bright chiming guitars, the melancholia of frontman Moses’ stacked vocals evokes bittersweet wordless partings, and he goes the full range throughout the middle eight, which culminates in an exhilarating falsetto display. Ben Jackson’s immersive production floats the intricate busyness of the instrumental atop a soundscape of swirling ambience to make for a record that sounds restless and assured. It’s business as usual from a group reinvigorating the indie genre one release at a time.
New single titled ‘Mythomania’ out on June 19, 2020
After the tantalising foretaste of the toxic ballad ‘Unfair’, Deleo continues to distil the fruits of its 4-track EP with a new teaser in anticipation of the EP’s release. This time, with ‘Mythomania’, the Montpellier-based group reveals a more prickly and rock side to its sweet poison.
Digital Cocaine due out this Friday 5 June is the lead single for UK songwriter trio Lost Outrider’s highly anticipated fourth album Blush due out this Summer on Outland Recordings. This supercharged instrumental showcases the band’s strength in blending modern electronic music, retro-tinged synthwave and cyberpunk aesthetics.
“It’s a cerebellum melter and a frenetic belter of a song that burns hotter than the CHOOH2 of a screaming Quadra V-Tech…” – Outland
J. Douglas Wright – “Birds N Butterflies”
“Birds N Butterflies” is about finding refuge in God during unbearable circumstances. The darkness of life can be overwhelming, yet hope, strength, and peace can be found in the midst of it all. The song is inspired by Isaiah 40:31—”But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”; Philippians 4:7—”And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds”; and Matthew 11:28—”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened down, and I will give you rest”.
Brite Spires are an electro-disco utopian dream, bringing together elements of classic synth bands of the 80s and 90s with the shimmering cool of the likes of St. Vincent and Christine and the Queens. Their latest single is Youth Movement Disco (2020 Version), a shining example of Brite Spires’ super-charged indie pop alchemy, which sees the debut of their new singer. Effortlessly lush and imperiously melodic, Brite Spires are the sound of your futuristic summer.

Kaylin Roberson – Track: Out Of My Town
“Ever since I’ve moved to Nashville, my love for my hometown has grown stronger and stronger, and I wanted to capture the feeling of going back home and seeing things change. I never used to understand why we had to drive by the house my dad grew up in every time we went to South Carolina, but now I get it. It doesn’t matter how much time changes a town, the feeling of going back home will always be there.”
