Skope Magazine x New Signing to No Sleep Records

“The song is about the facade of relevance. And where it sits on the spectrum between purposeful art and undignified bullshit. These days it often feels like we’re being smothered in the latter.”

Today, Nick Hakim shares a new song and video from his forthcoming album WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD out this Friday, May 15th, via ATO Records. “BOUNCING” is a delicate and melancholic track that finds Hakim yearning for companionship and warmth. Hakim had this to say about the track: “BOUNCING” is a sound bath where I wrote about one of the coldest days in New York I remember, while lying in my bed, restless by a radiator. It’s about feeling uneasy.”

Mr Ben & The Bens Share New Track “On The Beach”

Of the video bandleader Ben Hall says: “The plot of the video was created around a line from the song, ‘On the beach, wade between, sighing skulls I knew’. This is loosely based on the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead in Greek Mythology. It’s said that when your soul passes through if you didn’t have a coin to pay the boatman you’d wander endlessly on the shores of those rivers. In the film the spirit of death wanders a landscape littered with remnants of a ‘human’ civilization looking for somewhere to travel to next. Lockdown is a great opportunity to explore a new medium with plenty of time indoors, so I taught myself how to animate this film with a few tip offs from my pals and really enjoyed the process.”

LA Rocker, Tadini, Shares Raucous Debut Single ‘The Aronist’

Turn up the volume to 13, switch on the lava lamp and get your orders in at the bar, this a glorious nod to the rock giants of old and for first glimpse at a modern musical magician at work.
