James Chatburn Shares New Single ‘In My House’ + Announces LP
James Chatburn is a Berlin based Australian soul singer, songwriter and producer. Since settling in Berlin in 2015, he has released his first two EPs ‘001’ and ‘Damen’, followed by a string of collaborations, creating out of a dilapidated old GDR office building.
He has toured with Jordan Rakei and The Internet, produced for Brooklyn’s rum.gold, released on Majestic Casual and Soulection and collaborated with Australian hip hop legends Hilltop Hoods on their certified Gold single ‘Higher’. He’s now back with his latest single ‘In My House’, out May 8th.

Today, Australia’s Peter Bibby is back with his first new music since his acclaimed 2018 LP Grand Champion, and this time he’s buoyed by the disorderly Dog Act band. The new offering, entitled “Oceans,” is a ferocious slice of modern garage-psych that sounds like it’s cutting through your stereo speakers with a shiv. Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, the Oakland-based band fronted by singer and songwriter Thao Nguyen, debut the new video for “Pure Cinema” from their upcoming album Temple (due this coming Friday, May 15 on Ribbon Music) today. “When I recorded Else,” Chami explains, “I was attempting to slow down my thinking, my reaction time, the layering, the melodic lines. I wanted to drone out without worrying about keeping some sort of momentum or worrying about the next part that needed to happen. I often feel that maybe I am moving away from drone music, but I love to lock into stillness of long tones. I can’t remember exactly why I sang the lyrics I did, but it might have been because I actually did lock in to that stillness. I sang ‘there’s so much more than I can even say’ because I wasn’t trying to cater the moment to lyrics. I didn’t want to get stuck on words just because I wanted to use my voice. This is also why I let myself sing a more operatic line at the end, as well. We mixed it far back in the distance, but I also naturally pulled my mic away. I was physically creating that separation. Creating space for the stillness.”

Australian guitarist and singer/songwriter Robert Gaylard brings a unique perspective and vision when it comes to creating music. His inspiration and passion for starting The Nomadic began early on as a child after traveling to many countries like Myanmar (formerly Burma), Singapore and the Solomon Islands. His “nomadic” lifestyle continued on into his adulthood when he began to work for the United Nations in various countries such as: Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Israel and Palestine. His travels eventually brought him to New York in September of 2012 and motivated him to pursue his songwriting by establishing an indie rock band.

Rather than follow this success up with relentless touring, promotion and an album stamped out of the same mold, Reed “followed the wind” and put away his acoustic and dug into playing his old Strat and Les Paul Custom that he tortured for years on the road. He isolated himself from the music world and social media in his remote cabin for a year and created a unique sonic record by saturating analog tape running 3 times normal speed, capturing the performances at the moment of inspiration.
Roberta Flack to host live charity Listening Party on May 16
Legendary artist and humanitarian Roberta Flack is setting out to use the power of music to help the most vulnerable people during the current coronavirus crisis. She will host a YouTube Listening Party featuring more than a dozen of her favorite and award-winning songs, with donations benefiting Feed the Children, who are dedicated to feeding hungry children.
“Children need us now more than ever,” Flack said. “We want to be sure that people who need food get it. Each of us can give something. Please give help, connect, and sing a mighty song of love, compassion, and care. We’re in this together and helping each other. Love is a Song!”
