Over the past 2 years, the duo has been working steadily on new songs which have culminated into their first full-length album, Out For A While, out now. They recorded the album themselves in a remote cottage in the Gaspésie region of Quebec, featuring a string of local Montreal musicians. This album is a solid documentation of the duo’s growth and expansion into more song-form compositions, without losing sight of an experimental approach.

SORGE (sor*guh) recently recorded their maiden EP. Fusing elements of stoner/doom, fuzz, sludge, and psychedelic metal and rock elements into an esoteric concoction of outer space and inner mind, Sorge delivers four crushing tracks totaling nearly twenty-eight minutes of sonic exploration. Elements of the fertile doom scene that birthed Saint Vitus, Internal Void, Place Of Skulls, Earthride, Iron Man, and many others show through, however, SORGE’s tunes reach far beyond said soil, infusing kaleidoscopic and ethereal elements into their sound.

Roccwell “Still Lovin’ Boombap” – Album Out Now
Still Lovin’ Boombap – the slogan with which the Munich-based beat-maker Roccwell titles his album stands not only for his unbroken love of the Boombap sound, but above all, for the daily struggle of the Hip-Hop generation of 35 plus.
Bringing his family, job and music under one roof is not Roccwell’s only challenge. Especially in an expensive city like Munich, which likes to give the protagonists of the subculture the cold shoulder. Against all odds however, the passion for classical rap has never left Roccwell. It embodies an attitude to life that has shaped him for 25 years now, even now that he is a family man with responsibilities. Selling yourself to the mainstream for a few bucks with shallow beats, pop melodies and a pinch of auto-tune? Not his thing – even if it would make things a lot easier.
LA’s grunge-pop band Momma—a four-piece led by co-singers/guitarists/songwriters Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten—today debuted their new song “Habitat” via V Magazine, out today at all DSPs. “Habitat” is the third single off Momma’s forthcoming LP Two of Me out June 5th (Danger Collective Records), an ambitious concept album situated in an underground purgatory of their imagination called The Bug House. “We wanted this song to be the grand opus of the record – a culmination of the drama that happens throughout,” explain Friedman and Weingarten. “Inspired by ‘Eldorado’ by Electric Light Orchestra, ‘Habitat’ is written from the perspective of someone who comes to accept their place in The Bug House. The lyrics were inspired by the time we took shrooms together and decided that ‘being alone with each other is like being alone with ourselves.’ It is about being at peace with your environment, and finding calm in an altered state.”

Barbarossa (Memphis Industries) – Shares New Single, ‘Always Free’
This is the first new music from Barbarossa – real name James Mathé – since his BBC 6 Music and Clash-tipped 2018 record, Lier, an album that also found him touring in support of José Gonzàlez. This new single was recorded with the Dummy and Red Bull-backed producer, Ghost Culture and finds Mathé exploring mental freedom, anxiety, and the ability to segue mindset in life. I think this is quite a stunning piece of music that, coincidentally, sits as quite a sound reminder of mindfulness and its importance in a time like this – particularly when people are perhaps reaching the limits of their patience on an increasingly frequent basis.

“Love Me Like” was inspired by music in the neo-soul and pop genres that we love so much while intertwining modern production and hooks with vintage songwriting sensibilities. This is a song about a one-sided relationship from the eyes of the beholder, grappling with internal frustration and romantic invisibility.

From there, All Birds Deserve to Fly continues through peaks and valleys of quiet and ethereal numbers to technical hard rockers where vocalist Kaylee Jorene shines in performances reminiscent of Anneke van Giersbergen.

Rome’s stoner rock heroes BLACK RAINBOWS share their new single “Universal Phase” exclusively via Metal Injection today! Their eight studio album ‘Cosmic Ritual Supertrip’ drops on May 22nd via Heavy Psych Sounds.
“Universal Phase is maybe the heaviest song from our new record. It’s heavy, doomy and wild. It kicks you in the teeth and punches you in the face. We even color-corrected the video to give it a more 70s feel.” says frontman Gabriele Fiori.
