Gareth Inkster – Presenting “Vacant”

I produced “Vacant,” and recorded everything in my bedroom with the exception of drums which were done by Sheepdog Studios’ Glen Watkinson. Adam Carter played rhythm electric, Robinson Inkster played bass, and the rest (acoustic, vocals, piano, organ, some rhythm electric, lead electric, aux perc) is all me.

It’s interesting – the simplest songs (lyrically) tend to be the same harmonically and melodically, too. That’s definitely true in the case of “Vacant.” Straight forward, to-the-point, no bones about it, but totally sincere.

Tom Grennan Releases New Single “Oh Please” With Accompanying Visual

Speaking of the track’s inspiration, Tom says: “When writing ‘Oh Please’ I was listening to a lot of Curtis Mayfield, Nas, Kendrick, and of course Amy Winehouse, and I wanted to channel this through the song. The opening transports me back to visiting America, crossing the Brooklyn bridge for the first time and seeing Manhattan. It really hit me at that moment that anything was possible, and I saw things clearer than ever before. I felt euphoric and excited for the future, a chapter closed and a beautiful new beginning ahead. It changed my mindset towards relationships, to focus my energy on learning from them rather than going into a darker, angry place. ‘Oh Please’ is about learning from relationships. It’s about staying strong and making the right decisions with respect and grace.”

New Release from Protokhal “Modern Vision” On Snakes x Ladders

Protokhal’s music hearkens back to simpler times – the mid 90s when drum and bass and jungle were charting in the UK and pirate radio stations blared out promises of a brighter future. ‘Modern Visions’ is the veteran producer’s debut release under the Protokhal moniker. Heavily influenced by the sounds of the legendary Asian Underground movement, which gave rise to luminaries like Talvin Singh and Nitin Sawhney, his single and forthcoming EP explore this classic sound – while updating it and making it fully his own.

Berlin punks Pabst share video for new single “Hell”

Berlin’s Pabst are today sharing the video for brand-new single Hell, a song that openly confronts the darker emotions within one’s self. Where previous single Skyline took aim at the gentrification they see taking over their hometown, Hell looks inwards to feelings of helplessness and despair, draping these with a muddy, fuzzed-out wall of distortion, and sky-high riffs. Drummer Tore Knipping explains:

Speaking about the new track, Andy Jenkins said: “Far Away from Here is a song about the after images of love, remembering those free and easy times, heightened emotions and lengthening shadows. It also describes the realization – after love is gone – of feeling pretty alright. I pictured someone at the end of a long day of traveling, who realized they felt good for the first time in a while. ‘I don’t mind the way I felt today, far away from here.’ What’s the saying?
