DIRTY STREETS SHARE NEW SINGLE FROM THEIR LATEST LP “ROUGH AND TUMBLE” OUT JULY 31ST!
Scan the press on soul-groove outfit Dirty Streets and you’ll see numerous references to rock, soul, and dirty-blooze touchstones like the Faces, Humble Pie, Otis Redding, CCR and more. Spin Dirty Streets’ records and you’ll hear all of those echoes, plus others—some jazz timing, some acoustic balladry. But by and large, what you’ll hear is a raw, rowdy blend of Motown, Stax and rock—the pure American blood-beat moving through the heart of Memphis groove.
Connor Cassidy is an American rapper, producer, and guitarist based in Boston, MA of Irish & Lebanese descent. With the charisma of a comedian, the hunger of an outsider, and the intensity of a fighter, his blend of lyrical, spiritually introspective, and growth oriented music imprints his listeners with the motivation to pursue excellence and fearlessly express themselves.
Drab City Share New Track “Troubled Girl”
Sounding a little like the Shangri-Las, perhaps, but only after being sampled by RZA and overlaid with a crushing drum break and the band’s otherworldly embellishments, “Troubled Girl” tells the story of a misunderstood and belittled teen girl’s angst and her dreams of escape. A remarkably fresh take on a classic pop song trope that sounds at once familiar and like nothing else.
Today Grammy-winning producer and songwriter André Allen Anjos, known as RAC, shared “Change The Story (ft. Jamie Lidell)” the third single from his upcoming album BOY. RAC said of the track, which debuted today on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe, “at its very core, this song represents freedom to me. It was written with such a playful energy. I ignored all the typical pop writing rules and just had fun with it. I have very vivid memories of listening to Jamie when I was growing up never imagining in a million years that I’d get to work with him.”

ABYSMAL DAWN Release 3D Music Video for “Coerced Evolution”
ABYSMAL DAWN comments: “The basic idea behind the lyrics is that some time in the near future, human life on Earth will have become unsustainable. In turn, a certain portion of the population will forcibly have their consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to alleviate resources. The same corporations that would have destroyed the Earth, would run these grids and would continue to make a profit on what’s left of humanity in some fashion. The ruling class would continue to live in the real world and make the planet sustainable once again.”
Norwegian rapper Ivan Ave shares “On The Very Low” video

“straight money” – EARMILK
“The Norwegian MC makes no bones about being deeply rooted in R&B and hip-hop, but it is the ’70s jazz and soul genres that make us excited to learn more about this project.” – Okayplayer

Skope video submission: Space Cadet, “Eyes Closed”
“Initially I wanted to be walking next to the car while it was moving really slowly, to tie in with the theme of the hook, like a walk in the park type thing,” Cadet says regarding the video. “However, the car (which my best friend Larry let me borrow) battery died and we had to wing it. I think in the end, the video now ties in much more to the verses as far as having to deal with the obstacles and adversities of the journey.”

Fried Monk – Welcome (Official Music Video) Premiere
“Welcome”, has a trippy music video to accompany the cacophony of syllables . Shot through the streets of Philadelphia in cold weather, the video brings attention to a few key points that we might not otherwise be focusing on right now” – Imperfect Fifth

In a word, ‘Fall Down’ explores a lover’s betrayal. “It creates a nostalgic yet heartbreaking feeling upon listening that was written for those that really need it – including myself,” Lachlan explains. Mixing vulnerability with likeability, and turning pain into something upbeat, Lachlan has created an entirely relatable sound that “people can listen to, drive to and dance to,” Lachlan continues.
