R.A. The Rugged Man shares new song via Adult Swim Singles

Adult Swim Singles have shared a new song from R.A. the Rugged Man as the twenty-third entry in the 2019-2020 program. “Dragon Fire” is the latest single from the legendary Long Island MC’s new album, All My Heroes Are Dead, out this Friday on Nature Sounds, and features contributions from hip-hop heavyweights Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, and Kool G Rap. The new album, R.A.’s first since 2013’s Legends Never Die, stands among his best work to date. “So many of the greats are gone, and the legends who made it out alive are cast aside,” R.A. says. “Society left our heroes and their culture for dead. We have to dig that greatness out of its grave, and bring it back with an angry vengeance.”

Becky G says, “‘They Ain’t Ready’ has always been a favorite English record of mine. However, I must say this release is slightly bittersweet. At the time, this song was meant to inspire others to fight for love and come together despite their differences. Today, it not only stands for that, but also hope. Given our current state of nation, my priorities have recently been to educate myself as much as possible on COVID-19 and find as many ways as I can to help give back to others. While this has affected the entire world, the effects I’ve seen first hand in my LA community are devastating. As my first solo release since the pandemic, I’ve decided to give back to the kids and students of the LAUSD. They have approximately 700,000 students in their system, of which 80% live in poverty. I used to be one of those students.

Leslie Mendelson Releases Video For “Lay It All On Me”

Leslie Mendelson’s ‘If You Can’t Say Anything Nice…’ was recorded in Brooklyn, NY where the singer/songwriter currently resides. The 10-song collection is stacked with songs that recall ’70s’ AM gold artists like Carly Simon, Carole King and Fleetwood Mac. And although sonically reminiscent of a simpler, more direct time in music, lyrically the album is completely of its time addressing depression, the gun rights debate, pharmaceutical addiction and over exposure to media in all its various modern forms.

“Rose has always been so generous with her time and advice, even as she navigates the industry as an indie artist herself. Diet Cig will release their second full-length, Do You Wonder About Me? on May 1 via Frenchkiss Records and today they reveal the album’s lead single, “Who Are You?”. The New York Times took note of the band’s Alex Luciano’s vocals declaring, “the sweet clarity of her voice riding verses that seethe and rumble with a ferocity that harks back to the Who” and today’s single showcases that same dichotomy of “sweet” and “seething.” Of the track the band notes, “‘Who Are You?’ is for anyone who’s ever received a completely self-serving apology from someone who’s hurt them. I learned that healing doesn’t wait for an ‘I’m sorry’ to appear, and it can feel silly to have one arrive when you’re completely over it. This song takes these bad feelings and turns them into a fun upbeat jam to dance around in your kitchen to!”

Berlin-based duo Amnesia Scanner have announced the impending release of their sophomore LP, Tearless, a sonic reflection of how it feels to experience Earth at a time when collapse is emerging as the prevailing narrative. As Amnesia Scanner founders, Ville Haimala and Martti Kalliala watch their icy home country of Finland thaw- the staggering scale of political recalibration and the worldwide climate crisis blows open old norms. “There’s a looming sense of radical change,” they noted pre-COVID, connecting the period of making the album to a fin de siecle horror and curiosity regarding what new world is being ushered in. Tearless has been referred to as “a breakup album with the planet”, to which Amnesia Scanner responds, on the LP’s closing track: “You will be fine, if we can help you lose your mind.” Amnesia Scanner are previewing the album in the form of a video for their accidental quarantine anthem “AS Going,” a clip featuring a cascade of images of spiraling humans.
