Fresh from the reveal of recent single WHiTE LiE mere weeks ago, Toronto based fast riser LOONY continues to shine with the reveal of brand new single NO!, taken from upcoming EP JOYRiDE. An interstellar left-soul cut showcasing LOONY’s otherworldly vocal range, the track serves as further testament as to why LOONY has been gaining acclaim from the likes of FADER, Stereogum, BBC Radio 1, Complex and more. A past tour mate of Rhye and from the same camp as BADBADNOTGOOD, LOONY looks a cast-iron bet as one to watch this year. The track arrives at a time of great uncertainty as we face the Covid-19 pandemic together. We’re hopeful that music can offer some respite to what everyone is going through. Speaking on the release, LOONY states:

Marcus Mumford is the frontman of the Grammy-award winning band Mumford & Sons. Stepping out as a featured artist for the first time with this track, Mumford also just released a new charity single—a solo cover of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” originally made famous Gerry and The Pacemakers in the 1960s. After striking up a friendship with Diplo, the two began experimenting in the studio together and an early demo of “Lay Your Head On Me” was born.

Teitur drops new single Clara with self-made video

“Clara,” I had just written with (US singer/writer) Griffin House in his garage in Nashville, Tennessee. We skipped what we were working on and described her in a song instead.

Marlin’s Dreaming Share “Outwards Crying” Video Via Clash

“Outwards Crying is about my urge to leave my hometown (Dunedin, NZ) and change my surroundings. For the video we wanted a gritty and off kilter accompaniment to the song, and it turned out to be shooting farm animals and old buildings around Dunedin, which I can’t explain why but seems fitting. I feel like this is our most heavy song on the upcoming album, not in terms of instrumentation, but more how confronting it is emotionally.”

Rory Taillon – New Song – “Welcome”

“My new song – “Welcome” – has a solemn and epic mood, with layers of harmonies and guitar parts building up to a climax of desperation and strength. I was exhausted dealing with my relationship with darkness, just wishing he would leave me and not return.”

Juno Jensen is in a genre all of her own – Northern Noir. This dark and dramatic sound is particularly Nordic, and came together following a number of years working as a musician and producer making instrumental electronic music. The Pieces of Juno project continues to develop Jensen’s song writing talents (at the same time she’s also the co-founder and creative director of Oslo’s feminist collective KOSO) and led to four cinematic, gothic records of self-knowledge and journeys through the mind: Kalopsia, Tacenda and Metanoia.

Spanish labels unite to raise money for hospitals in fight against Covid-19

It’s clear that in facing a global crisis such as that through which we are currently living with the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 virus around the world, we must look at our own communities and forge bonds that can help us through such times.

That is exactly what a group of 20 independent Spanish labels (soon to be more!) have done. Forming under the banner of Music For Gloves, labels such as Action Weekend Records, Family Spree Recordings, You Are The Cosmos, Bickerton and more have joined forces with a simple yet vitally important aim: to raise money to help provide hospitals with the gloves needed to treat patients suffering the effects of Covid-19.

TALK SHOW release debut EP “These People”

Through the push and drive of tracks “Atomica” and “Petrolhead”, the lovelorn “Banshee”, and undoubted future-earworm “Stress”, “These People” pulls at tightened threads, shines a light into dark corners, under rocks, and finds a world – and people – worth fighting for. Love, adoration and frustration may be words that come to define “These People.”
