That same year, Brun was invited to perform at the Nobel Prize Dinner and Polar Music Prize Ceremony and in 2018 the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. NPR’s All Things Considered called 2015’s When I’m Free her “best record yet… her most sonically ambitious…” Her second album A Temporary Dive, which was released in 2005, earned her the Norwegian Grammy for Best Female Artist. The New York Times raved of 2008’s Changing of the Seasons, saying the album “offers the kind of comfort that only well-versed singer-songwriters can give. An album full of sad songs to revel in as the days grow shorter and colder, Seasons is Brun’s strongest work yet.”
KaiL Baxley Shares New LP ‘Beneath The Bones’ Via AntiFragile Music
Singer-songwriter KaiL Baxley has shared his new LP Beneath The Bones. Songs from the LP have seen praise from American Songwriter, Atwood Magazine, Glide and more.
“This is my gritty midtown Los Angeles record,” says Baxley “It’s intentional, raw and honest. I was flat on my back when I wrote these songs. This is a snapshot of that time period. It’s my first fully self-produced effort and it was pieced together by a village of my greatest friends. I couldn’t have done it without their individual efforts. It was an incredible lesson on the power of community, love and now gratitude. When in doubt, throw caution to the wind and let the music guide you. It’s the only compass.”

With the EP announcement comes The Velvick’s debut single “Hit Me Like Sugar.” Lead vocalist Vick Nader describes “Hit Me Like Sugar” “This is our motorcycle song. The inspiration for this song was a hot biker Ed and I met a couple years ago at a bar in Brooklyn. We were both stunned like teenagers by her and her passion for the motorcycling craft. We’ve never seen her again but it was enough to inspire us to create this dirty toned/sexy/Motorhead vibe tune that is a full throttle from the moment it starts until it’s abrupt ending. Just like a crash.”

“Devastated”: Australian Artist Jamie-Lee Dimes Shares Statement On SXSW Cancellation From Austin
“I have spent the last 13 months recording my debut full length album, and am currently already in Austin, Texas rehearsing with my band who also flew in from California ahead of SXSW. Thankfully I’ve still got tour dates planned here in the US to look forward to, but it’s a bit devastating to get out of bed and face the world right now being so far away from home, already in Texas.
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to get to a moment like this in a very cut throat industry. A lot of time, money, risks, sacrifice, rejection, quick highs and lows and inconsistent “living on a dream” realities.
Many artists – myself included – deal with mental health issues, so when an event takes up so much mental energy, risk, sacrifice, discipline, and strategy and cancels a week before it starts, it’s very detrimental. Not just to careers, to our livelihood and to our bank accounts, but to our mental health. Much as I appreciate the need to safeguard everyone’s physical health, there are so many knock-on effects, especially for independent and self-managed artists like me – it’s difficult not to feel degraded and let down.” – Jamie-Lee Dimes
