Psychedelic post-punk outfit Mayflower Madame are about to unleash a new wave of their dark and distinctive blend of post-punk, shoegaze and psychedelia on their forthcoming album ‘Prepared for a Nightmare’, to be released in late March via French label Only Lovers Records, in collaboration with Portland’s Little Cloud Records and Parisian label Icy Cold Records. Ahead of that, they present the lead track ‘Vultures’, partly inspired by the art of George Grosz and Hieronymus Bosch.
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, founded in memory of the late rock music legend, will commemorate the 10th anniversary of his passing and the formation of the charity with an Awards Gala on February 20, 2020. The Awards Gala, which will take place at The Avalon in Hollywood, will be hosted by radio and television personality Eddie Trunk and will recognize honorees who have played a role in either Dio’s legacy or that of the charity. The festivities will begin at 6PM.
Confirmed to present awards to the honorees at the Gala are recording artists Sebastian Bach, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Jeff Pilson of Foreigner, singer Glenn Hughes, Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot, Fred Coury of Cinderella, Robbie Crane of Black Star Riders and music industry executive Ahmet Zappa.

“Disillusioned people getting lost in self-destructive or just generally dangerous thinking is a major theme of this album,” Matt Longo, also known as Thin Lear, explains. “The narrator in ‘Maniacs’ is pitching a cult-like community to an alienated, uncherished internet dweller. And you just know it’s going to be a rapid descent for this person, that they’ll soon be indoctrinated. That relentlessly chugging beat and the quick, dynamic changes in the song reflect a desperation and rapidly changing attitude. I wanted the song to feel like one breathless, spiraling fall, from the very start, with that mellotron-laden opening. And I knew I needed a wild, unhinged sax solo at the end. It was really the only choice for the conclusion of the track.”
