“Hypertension” is an ode to the band’s hometown of Austin, and the community that has been so supportive as the band has found their way. The band shares: “Austin has had our backs since the beginning, and in our travels throughout the last six years, we’ve noticed how lucky we truly are. Our scene doesn’t just support our band but almost every band and art as a whole. We’ve seen the same faces for years and years over now and that support is unwavering. Our friends show out every time.”

Premiered by V Magazine, the new music video stars Jari Jones, the trans activist, actress, and model who made a big splash at Cannes this year with a film she co-produced with Martin Scorsese. Featuring a cast of queer Black performers from NY’s underground ballroom scene, the film made Jari the first Black trans women to produce a film at the festival, and it also featured the festival’s first-ever trans star. The video follows Jari as she meets a mysterious stranger on the subway played by Basit Shittu, a non binary person who was featured on MTV’s first-ever show about sexual fluidity.

Keith & Hollie Kenniff’s Mint Julep announce fully-crystalized ‘Stray Fantasies’ LP

Stray Fantasies marks a deepening of the discography of wife-and-husband duo Hollie and Keith Kenniff under their collaborative moniker Mint Julep, an expertly manicured electric-pop venture that stands in stark contrast to the nebulous and experimental Helios and Goldmund outputs for which the latter member is known (though both members have ambient projects under their own names). Where those projects seek to defy conventional song-form through textural, amorphous exploration, Mint Julep gels all the elements with a surprising and impressive songwriting expertise that speaks to the skill and well-roundedness of its creators.

Swiss noise/indie/rock power-trio LØRE stream new EP ‘Nailfish’

About ‘Nailfish’, the band comments : “We are very spontaneous guys. So one day we thought it would be cool to record a new EP, the week after, we were in the studio. With this new record, we wanted to express this sense of emergency, insurrection but also fun and madness that surrounds us. “Nailfish” represents that ; a bipolar atmosphere between the seriousness of this world and the lightness with which one lives it. It’s like a fun and noisy revolution” (David Bourquenoud, LØRE)
