Hear Alex Winston’s new single “Wash” out today!
“‘Wash’ was written a few years back in a cabin outside of Reno, where I spent a week working on a collection of songs with my friends Sjowgren. I was right in the midst of treating my Lyme disease and some other mental health issues as well.
It was an exhausting and confusing time because I had so many opinions and so many medications being thrown at me, and I started to not trust my own instincts. When I wasn’t in physical pain, I felt numb, but when I was numb, I didn’t feel creative. A truly vicious cycle for a songwriter.
‘Wash’ is an encapsulation of that period, which oddly ended up being an incredibly cathartic song to write.” — Alex Winston
JUTES RELEASES NEW SINGLE “SIDESHOW”
“When I first moved to LA I had been working on my mental state a lot. Battling depression and anxiety and was making solid progress, but LA is a tempting place. And though I knew some of the people I was dealing with were only going to pull me back into old habits and mindsets I indulged regardless. Broken people often attract broken people. Sideshow touches on this. Knowing something or someone is killing you but being powerless to it.”
MAX on the meaning behind the song said, “I wrote this song after my wife was tired of living with my parents so we got our own spot and bam things got much better. We wanted that extra layer of Funk spice to bring the song to the next level. Who better than Chromeo the funk lordz themselves. It’s a fun record but it also has an underlying message of treating the person you love the way the deserve. Happiness in a relationship only really comes when both partners are getting what they need. Make that checklist baby.”

It took me almost two years, but now with Surfacing, a lot of these pressing thoughts I’ve had about my blackness, my version of masculinity, mental illness, healing, finding your own path, and more are finally dredged up from what seems like a bottom less ocean, and committed to wax.
I feel like its got it’s own continental shelf; deep enough to dive where the listener may have never gone before, but sonically nice enough that you can stay near the shore and just let its current wash over if that’s all you need from it. Either way, I finally feel like I’m saying not only what I want to say, but what NEEDS to be said, in my own words. I finally feel like I’m Surfacing. Thanx for listening!
Sixteen year-old Latin-pop crossover Sarah Silva drops fiery first single titled “False Illusions” via dubb Records today, music video forthcoming. The bass driven track is a classic retelling of boy-meets-girl, but with a Gen Z twist by meeting through a social app. A stereotypical player, he sends her mixed signals and presents a “false illusion” of himself. Everything that he says to her doesn’t seem to be fully true, especially when they meet in person. The track mixes feisty pop lyrics with a sassy Latin vibe.
“Mad dudes often write songs about women for dudes; I’ve always found that weird as fuck. It also means a lot of love songs don’t mirror my experience. I wanted to write a song for my girl. I wanted to create a song that takes you out of the real world and into that fantasy bubble, reminiscent of a high with no comedown. New love.” – Remi
