“‘Wash’ was written a few years back in a cabin outside of Reno, where I spent a week working on a collection of songs with my friends Sjowgren. I was right in the midst of treating my Lyme disease and some other mental health issues as well.
It was an exhausting and confusing time because I had so many opinions and so many medications being thrown at me, and I started to not trust my own instincts. When I wasn’t in physical pain, I felt numb, but when I was numb, I didn’t feel creative. A truly vicious cycle for a songwriter.
‘Wash’ is an encapsulation of that period, which oddly ended up being an incredibly cathartic song to write.” — Alex Winston
