ROBOTS&BALLOONS Reveals Sultry And Chilled Second Single ‘VERA’
Written from the narrative of a newly single guy in Los Angeles who falls for a prostitute (named Vera, no surprises there), who insists on “wining and dining her at any cost”, Denniston’s second installment stands lyrically in stark contrast to debut delivery ‘By Myself’, showcasing a playful aspect of the multi faceted capabilities of Robots&Balloons. While the production remains recognisably Robots&Balloons with soft trap beats and array of polished electronic sounds – with the addition of a guitar, albeit with a flavour of romantic summer nostalgia.
Jessie and Lucy call the song a “bisexual anthem” about owning your truth and taking down the stereotypes that surround bisexuality. Whether it’s in their lyrics, which casually switch between male and female pronouns, or in their new video (premiering below), which shows the stars openly flirting with people across the gender spectrum, the song laughs at the assumption that bisexuality is merely a “phase.”

Shana Falana shares “Darkest Light,” inspired by Handmaid’s Tale :: Out 10/25 on Arrowhawk
“I wrote this song after I watched The Handmaid’s Tale. That show seriously f’d me up. I know the book and author of course, but seeing the actual story come to life was devastating. It’s psychotic how we are still fighting for freedom over our bodies, our careers, and our believability when we say #metoo. It ended up being the title track of this record because there is still an ember to blow on…it’s the darkest light.” -Shana

OUT TODAY: Homeless Oakland Heart Collective to Release Debut Album!
Recorded live and outdoors in Oakland, Grammy-winning producer and author, Ian Brennan (Tinariwen, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Zomba Prison Project) delves deeply into the voices of the homeless community— those that are largely ignored and even maligned. It is a community that he has worked with dating back to the 1980s. Needless to say, it is a highly unique, ultimately heartbreaking album with “street” cred and raw-ness that sounds like any other. Ranging from old school beat-boxing to Free Jazz guitar to ballads and electronica, this is a one-of-kind, esoteric, and diverse record akin to rarities like Hollerin’, Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica, Alvin Lucier’s I Am Sitting in a Room, and Elvis Presley’s Having Fun With Elvis On Stage, et al. and it’s a full on old school, gut-punch punk album.
Rod Wave Connects with Kevin Gates for “Cuban Links” Video
“The 19-year-old can rap at a brisk pace like an ATL rapper, hit a falsetto like a R&B singer, and often digs deep to unleash a gravelly voice that sounds like he’s the lead in a country rock band…he already possesses one of the best voices in the South.” – Pitchfork

Tapeworm LP is out now on all DSPs.

SYML Shares New Single; Releases Emotional Video
Today, Seattle-based artist and producer SYML shares his brooding new single, “Symmetry,” a reflective, finger-picked tune inspired by Brian Fennell’s interest in black holes. He explains, “I have been obsessed with black holes for a while now, mostly with how insignificant they make me feel. There is something extremely beautiful and daunting about infinity, especially when it comes to our inability to understand it. This song feels like the dust that gathered in an abandoned space station that’s been circling earth for years.”
