Philadelphia heavy psych band Ecstatic Vision will release its new album, ‘For the Masses’, on September 20 via Heavy Psych Sounds Records (Nebula, Nick Oliveri). Recorded with Joe Boldizar (Ruby the Hatchet, KEN Mode) and mixed/mastered by Tim Green (Earthless, Sebadoh, The Melvins), Ecstatic Vision’s critically-celebrated, fuzzed-out sound has been sculpted into a Hi-Fi psychedelic wonderland on the new LP. In celebration of the new record’s release, Under the Radar is streaming ‘For the Masses’ in full, saying, “‘For the Masses’ is Ecstatic Vision at its most space-y, most tripped-out, most avant-garde, and most rock and roll, somehow all at once.” Stream Ecstatic Vision’s ‘For the Masses’ at this location.
Long before the indie rock vampires got hip to the jam, Wet Tuna’s Matt Valentine and PG Six (Pat Gubler) were twisting folk-blues, the avant garde, west coast and Swedish psychedelia into a fat one in the beloved underground unit Tower Recordings.
Tower’s journey ended some time ago but MV and PG Six found new paths—Matt mostly around the MV & EE tree and Pat’s solo songwriter sojourns.
Philadelphia-based psychedelic rock freaks ECSTATIC VISION present their mind-melting new studio album “For The Masses” exclusively via Under The Radar, ahead of its official release this Friday on Heavy Psych Sounds Records.
ECSTATIC VISION have tapped into something that expands heavy rock’s vocabulary and moves into a far-out sonic galaxy where there is music in the spheres but the spheres vibrate on previously untold frequencies.
Today Saul Williams released his video for “Dare” — taken from Williams’ album Encrypted & Vulnerable (out now via Pirates Blend), Complex called the song “a cacophonous whirlwind of distorted noise and industrial rhythms, held together by the rapper, actor, author and poet’s free-flowing, spoken word style.”
The new music follows the release of “Lost Cause,” which received critical praise—Pigeons & Planes featured him among their “Best New Artists of the Month” in July proclaiming, “His most recent few songs are his best yet, and the evolving sound is starting to lay the foundation for a genre-agnostic artist with ambitions beyond following the latest trends,” while Ones To Watch added, “KennyHoopla is a perfectly indescribable enigma that we simply cannot get enough of.” Both songs will appear on his debut EP due early 2020.

Brooklyn,NY Synthpop/New Wave duo The Mystic Underground announce the release of their new EP Simple Minds,Simple Pleasures
Synths and sass. Pomp and circumstance. Two simple phrases. Two small glimpses into the minds of singer Vladimir Valette and producer Benedetto Socci. Together, the two combine to form the nucleus of indie electronic pop outfit The Mystic Underground. With inspiration found in the sounds of machines with the warmth and immediacy of the hummable melody, they are primed to inscribe their mark on the pop landscape with their forthcoming EP. Vocalist Vladimir Valette explains the inspiration behind Simple Minds, Simple Pleasures and their new music video Tempted by the Sound of Violence..
Wished Bone, the folk project of Ashley Rhodus, began with borrowed instruments and broken tape machines in an Athens, Ohio basement called The Pseudio. Rhodus, plant biologist turned bartender, finds peace in viewing human behavior and emotion as organic and normal parts of nature; a flower opens up because it is meant to. Often accompanied by instrumentalist Wandering Lake, stripped down melodies float like a cloud atop Kupillas’ subtle drones, simple guitar licks, and clean drums.
Maria started writing “She’s Sensitive” in the middle of an intense bout of writer’s block. As a way to get herself going, she based this song on the character of a book she was reading at the time… little did she know that soon after, she’d have plenty of material to write about. After the first verse was done, her partner (a musician himself) returned home from his tour and acted awfully strange. This had been an issue for a while, but it seemed like it had gotten worse. After a few days of whirlwind and confusion, during which the second verse was born, she found out that he had a serious opioid addiction. At the time she hadn’t been as aware of this issue that is now an epidemic in this country, so it was a shock and felt like a betrayal they couldn’t recover from – the secrets and the lies, most of all.
