iyla Releases Official Music Video For ‘Flowers’

“Fuck flowers, what flowers?” she sings on the chorus of this empowering and soulful release, and the video illuminates her message beautifully. “There’s this stereotype that women just want the finer things in life. Mess up, cheat on us, treat us badly, but as long as we get those flowers, it’s all going to be okay,” iyla explains. “But that’s just not the truth. I would rather have your honesty and your support than flowers, however beautiful they may be. So the video challenges this stereotype by showing an overload of flowers that I just don’t want. It also has an Alice in Wonderland element to it: when I get the love and support I need, I grow, as opposed to shrink.”

Great Grandpa share new single “Digger”

“I used to have a dog who would get into this intense and almost manic trance when he would dig a hole in the yard. We called him Digger because he just became obsessed with these seemingly pointless pits. Something about his eyes in this state has lingered with and haunted me for years. It felt familiar, human even. Over the years Carrie and I began to liken it, even using the name, to describe ourselves when our mental health was spiraling or/and we were diving into the dangerous game of obsessive existential inquiry/patterns. Written in the wake of a fateful Wildwood Tarot reading following months of creative drought, this song is, like the spaces it explores, messy and without much resolution — simultaneously a meditation on the process of creation, determinism vs agency and an ode to Philip K Dick’s “The Transmigration of Timothy Archer”, mental illness, and those in our lives who dug too far. It’s safest to never go out in the darkness, but perhaps we’ll miss something in the dark.”

CLOAK Premiere Music Video for New Song, “Into the Storm,” via Kerrang!

CLOAK comment on the offering: “‘Into The Storm’ is one of our most aggressive and epic songs to date. We wanted the visuals to be just as unnerving and majestic as the music itself. Once again, this video was produced and crafted fully by the band members. Now, revel in the ecstasy of darkness unbound!”

Will Griffith, known musically as The Great Dying, is a Mississippi Delta born, country singer-songwriter residing in Oxford, MS.
